[NetBehaviour] GIASO LIVE TODAY ONLINE AND AT THE PLATEFORME INTERMEDIA - NANTES

2013-10-26 Thread APO33
*GREAT INTERNATIONAL AUDIO STREAMING ORCHESTRA*

*ONLINE AND AT THE PLATEFORME INTERMEDIA - SATURDAY THE 26TH OF OCTOBER
2013 - FROM 3PM TO 7PM*

An international online orchestra developed by *Apo33 *whose goal is to
create a place for networked performance.
?Great International Audio Streaming Orchestra? uses a bidirectional
multiplex platform to perform and mix different audio sources (streaming).
Over time of performance, streams (transmission) are re-made in the space
of spatial diffusion through a system based on a free internet and
multi-stream transmission. GIASO creates a new form of orchestral
composition where composers become virtual entities that emerge from a
community of nodes ? audio explorers and performers network.

[NetBehaviour] Opening exhibition Shu Lea Cheang - plateforme intermedia / Apo33

2012-04-18 Thread APO33

SHU LEA CHEANG (Taiwan/Paris)

“BABYWORK”

From 18th of April to 8th of May 2012

-Exhibition - Plateforme intermedia

Opening Wednesday the 18th at 6pm
Plateforme intermédia - La Fabrique - Nantes / France

Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 2pm to 6pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEjB5UNjqvw

The Locker Baby project recalls Ryu Murakami's noted novel Coin Locker Babies
(1980) in which twin boys were abandoned at birth in one square foot
coin locker metal box at Tokyo’s subway station. The boys grew up
haunted with the sound of human heart beats, those of their birth
mother’s. Coin lockers are Japan's train station landmark and much
utilized by shoppers and travelers. In post-war japan, unwanted babies
(often interracial) by unwed mothers were dropped off in coin-lockers.
Fear of terrorists' explosive deposit, coin lockers have ceased to
exist at public space in most metropolitan cities. In 1995, when Tokyo
Doomsday was called for by cult Aum Shinrikyo, the coin lockers were
sealed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force for a day. The
historical association and references derived from coin lockers
inspire the Locker Baby project.

The Locker Baby project proposes a fictional scenario set in year 2030. The
transnational DPT (DollyPolly Transgency) advances clone babies as an
industry. Genes extracted from deep sea pearls harvested off Okinawa
Island are identified as best breed. Coin lockers situated in busy
Tokyo train stations are located for underworld test tube
fertilization. Ticking seconds to oblivion in darkness, the lockers
announce the birth of the Clone Generation. Serving themselves in the
intelligent industry, the locker babies are entrusted to negotiate
human memory and emotions. The Locker Baby holds the key to
unlock the networked inter-sphere of ME-motion (Memory-Emotion), a
playfield of sonic imagery triggered only by human interaction.

filmmaking.

[NetBehaviour] OPEN CALL: APO33 RESIDENCY 2012

2011-11-05 Thread APO33
Open Call

WHO: International Artists
WHAT: 1-3 month residency
WHERE: APO33, Platforme Intermedia - Nantes, FRANCE
WHEN: Mid April - May or August - October 2012

APO33 a not-for-profit association/artists collective founded in 1997
in Nantes, France. APO33 research practices cross philosophy, poetry,
visual, architecture, sonic arts and anything else that may arrive
through collaborative working. APO33 projects often use networked and
physical spaces, develop tools (hardware/software) for its creative
projects and the FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software) community of
artists and programmers.

RESIDENCY: APO33 invites artists annually to develop new work in situ.
The resident will have the opportunity to work towards an exhibition,
presentation, experimentation reflecting on these working methods and
forms of collaboration, depending on the proposal. The residency
usually entails two levels of development: a first preparation stage
(approximately 1 month) installation, performance ... or to realise a
performance project or architectural construction and a second stage
where space is open to the public (visit, participate and feedback).
APO33 will provide technical assistance to artists and expert
assistance to those using digital media open to exploring FLOSS
software and programming tools. In addition artists are invited to
give a public talk around their practice and project at APO33. We will
give preference to those applicants with a strong desire to exchange
and collaborate with the APO33 project as a whole.

APO33 will provide accommodation, pay travel costs, sustenance and a
small production budget. http://www.apo33.org

OPEN EXPERIMENTAL ZONE :

The Open Experimental Zone is the place where takes place new
processes and unexpected combination for APO33 projects and others
collaborations. Thought as a space for work in progress composed of
shared transformation, manipulation and experimentation of practices.

CHAOSLAB v0.2 (Hackart) ? test preparation for piksel Festival.

random evolution aperiodic bifurcation

Chaotic systems are not as predominant as indeterminacy. Chaoslab
creates sensitive dependence on initial conditions, devices and inputs
by having evolution through phase space (installation/workshop within
a place) that appears to be quite random. Our Chaotic models seem to
be deployed to ascertain various kinds of activities related to
bifurcation points (uncontrolled steps of evolution within the
workshop), period doubling sequences (or should we said multiple
sequences), the onset of chaotic dynamics proposed by the
participants, the strange attractors between sources, filters,
amplifications, connections and other denizens of the chaos zoo of
hacked behaviours.

Source: electronics, poetry, noise, pd, floss, audio, hacking,
electromagnetic, possession, hijacking, found objects, light,
movement, feedback, ecosystem, mutation; randomness, electricity,

BOT WORKSHOP

WIINOISE LE MASQUE D'ELIOS - THE NOISER (aka Julien Ottavi)

BOT project THENOISER @ PDCONF09 - Sao Paulo/Brazil

from 20th to 26th of July

PDCONF09 : http://blog.pdcon.org/

BOT WORKSHOP!!

Initiated by apo33 (led by Dominique Leroy Julien Ottavi), BOTs make
up a virtual community, in the continuation of the 'POULPE' project,
with a view to assemble a collection of entities in one location in
order to diffuse their production to many more places. They stand for
a new approach to digital phenomena : networks, multi motionless
geolocation, interconnection of on-line produced or processed data,
automation in the treatment of reality and, especially in the case of
BOTs, sites for experiments, always accessible, and from anywhere.

In 1973 I made Rainforest IV where the objects that the sounds are
sent through are very large so that they have their own presence in
space. I mean, they actually sound locally in the space where they are
hanging as well as being supplemented by a loudspeaker system. The
idea is that if you send sound through materials, the resonant nodes
of the materials are released and those can be picked up by contact
microphones or phono cartridges and those have a different kind of
sound than the object does when you listen to it very close where it's
hanging. It becomes like a reflection and it makes, I thought, quite a
harmonious and beautiful atmosphere, because wherever you move in the
room, you have reminiscences of something you have heard at some other
point in the space. It's (can be) a large group piece actually, any
number of people can participate in it. It's important that each
person makes their own sculpture, decides how to program it, and
performs it themselves. Very little instruction is necessary for the
piece. I've found it to be almost self-teaching because you discover
how to program the devices by seeing what they like to accept. Its
been a very rewarding type of activity for me. It's been done by as
large a group as 14 people. So that was how our Rainforest was done.?

Who is David Tudor?

David Tudor was born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1926. He studied with H.
William Hawke (organ, theory), Irma Wolpe Rademacher (piano) and
Stephan Wolpe (composition and analysis). His first professional
activity was as an organist, and he subsequently became known as one
of the leading avante-garde pianists of our time. Tudor gave highly
acclaimed first or early performances of worksby contemporary
composers Earle Brown, Sylvano Bussotti, Morton Feldman, Karlheinz
Stockhausen, Christian Wolff, Stephan Wolpe, and La Monte Young, among
others.

Tudor began working with John Cage in the early fifties, as a member
of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and with Cage's Project of Music
for Electronic Tape. Tudor gradually ended his active career as a
pianist, turning exclusively to the composition of live electronic
music.

As a composer, Tudor chose specific electronic components and their
interconnections to define both composition and performance drawing
upon resources that were both flexible and complex. Tudor was one of
four Core Artists who collaborated on the design of the Pepsi Pavilion
for Expo '70, Osaka, Japan, a project of Experiments in Art and
Technology, Inc. Many of Tudor's compositions have involved
collaborative visual forces: light systems, laser projections, dance,
theater, television, film. Tudor's last project, Toneburst: Maps and
Fragments, was a collaboration with visual artist Sophia Ogielska.
Tudor's several collaborations with visual artist Jacqueline Monnier
included the development of a kite environment installed at the
Whitney Museum (Philip Morris, NYC) in 1986, at the exhibition
Klangraume in Dusseldorf in 1988, and at the Jack Tilton Gallery in
New York City in 1990. Other collaborators have included Lowell Cross,
Molly Davies, Viola Farber, Anthony Martin, and Robert Rauschenberg.

Tudor had been affiliated with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company
(MCDC) since its inception in the summer of 1953. In 1992, after
CageÕs death, Tudor took over as Music Director of MCDC. Merce
Cunningham has commissioned numerous works from Tudor

and ideas. Many points of view for many ways to listen.
Radio, the medium, is evolving. It?s primary purpose is to expose
sound and information but it can now do this through different means,
and it has now become possible for the listener to select the content
of any given emission. Radioact participates in this evolution. The
listener can chose to listen to a specific emission, or listen to
whatever is on offer on the airways at any given moment. The program is
made up of many different emissions, radio reportage?s, play lists
from invited dj?s, commentary etc .

For 2009 RADIOACT propose more than 320 days of experimentale music,
electronic, noise, sound art, sound poetry, improv, philosophy,
avant-garde, orchestral, industrial, extreme punk, minimalism, art
speech...etc

ENJOY!!

POULPE RADIO
/

LISTEN HERE : http://radio2.apo33.org:8000/poulpe_nantes.ogg.m3u

Le poulpe (the octopus) is an analogical and digital organism living
in a network. Each branch constitutes a sonic installation which, out
of a specific location, collects its own locally generated sound
effects, transforms them via a digital automaton into a new
arrangement of sounds. The outcome is then broadcast locally, through
loud speakers, and on the Net, through streaming. Le Poulpe belongs in
the city, where people live and make noise. It gives a virtual body to
this city, expressing through sounds its invisible mouvements and its
continuous flows. Over the Net, its tentacles collect and connect
continuous sonic fluxes from ever changing contexts, to infiltrate and
modify another environment.

A transition radio of movements

Julien Ottavi experimenting on 06/2008:

In sinusoidal shapes, I draw a specific listening form of both
background and mobile sounds. Paradoxical entities of calmness and
tension are built and I discover a kind of presence in this automatic
music, some delay and some undefined element running towards
emptyness. A first attempt out of a few oscillators, delays and
samplers? This month, I am trying to build a synthetic automaton (but
no acoustic source) to create a listening mode across the listener's
space. Since I am the first listener? I can experiment and adapt the
outcome according to my intimate self? and then, to yours?

Initiated by apo33, BOTs make up a virtual community, in the
continuation of the 'POULPE' project, with a view to assemble a
collection of entities in one location in order to diffuse their
production to many more places. They stand for a new approach to
digital phenomena : networks, multi motionless geolocation,
interconnection of on-line produced or processed data, automation in
the treatment of reality and, especially in the case of BOTs, sites
for experiments, always accessible, and from anywhere.

APODIO official new release Right now on Sourceforge!!!
 !!!

APODIO is a 5 years old Gnu/Linux distribution, dedicated to
multimedia tools for audio/visual creation, to run your own radio, TV,
make your own film, animation, art installation, Live Coding and other
 A/V performance... .

 Download it here:

 https://sourceforge.net/projects/apodio/

we are waiting for you feedback!!

there is a forum to talk about it:
 https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=922187

 APODIO is a GNU/Linux platform containing audio, text-friendly, 3D,
Streaming, graphic, Live Coding and video tools. It can be used as a
liveDVD or be installed on a partition of your hard disk (on any PC
 32bits to Mac Intel).

APODIO is a GNU/GPL project, a part of the GNU/Linux Ubuntu family:

APODIO uses a well known system operating the GNOME desktop.

APODIO can easily and quickly be installed, as a whole, coherent,
pre-set and instantly ready system on your computer, rather than a
ramshackle combination of packages, And what you see as you use the
LiveDVD is also what you get after the installation.

APODIO respects the free/Libre software tradition because it fully
supports Ubuntu without upsetting Ubuntu?s convenient software
packages and administrative scripts and because the liveDVD generative
scripts are always accessible : once you have installed APODIO, you
can generate a new liveDVD out of your own installation, onto another
 DVD.

APODIO is a free project under GNU/GPL licence, that fully complies
with the GNU spirit and standards, as it encourages knowledge
diffusion and knowledge sharing in the practice of multi-media tools,
rather than just replacing an economic dependency with a technical
one. APODIO is part of a long term undertaking - not just a one off
 achievement.

As part of Area10 Project Space the new medialab platform

Re: [NetBehaviour] Fwd: [ORG-discuss] London Hack Space

2009-01-26 Thread APO33
Hi
we are trying to set up a medialab since one year in Area10 where we
could welcome such meeting and open the space for projects like that.
We faced a lot of difficulties due to the space condition. The space
that would have been dedicated to it have been flooded 2 weeks ago...

http://www.a10lab.info is the backup website of few months ago (our
server was under water!!!)

We are actually looking for a new space for the medialab, or in Area10
or near.

Also we are actually opening a new space in Cossall Estate, peckham,
dedicated to new media, hacking, open hardware, free software,
workshop, digital art...etc

I will join the list and propose it there but if some guys are already
interested we could talk about it for some meeting or proposition.

the space should be operational early march!

cheers

 To: org-disc...@lists.openrightsgroup.org

For some time now London has been in need of a proper hacker space.
 The number of hacking
groups has exploded over the last year or so with new events popping
 up every weekend.
Despite this we're still missing a meeting place, a place where we can
 store projects
and share ideas. Where we can meet like minded people who share our
 passions. Where we can
learn new skills without making a significant investment.

We'd like to change that, but we need people to help.

If you're interested, we've set up a preliminary mailing list on
 google groups where we can
gather. It's just temporary until we come up with a name and have more
 solid foundations.

 Find us here: http://groups.google.com/group/london-hack-space
