I upgraded an existing 8.1 NetBSD with the
NetBSD-9.0_RC2-amd64-uefi-install.img from an USB stick.
But sysinst reports size zero for the existing partition
and I was neither able to use the install nor the upgrade
menu item. Also the partitioning tool from the Utility menu
is not able to

But only similar. Check the 'status' line for each entry, it probably
says 'disabled' and not 'okay'.
You can either modify the DTB or add overlay files
