Keith, the output seems OK. SNMP is working, and the correct class (Dell,
Layer 3) is being detected.

it’s not even detecting the Dell switches. I did a manual discovery & it
will show the switch, but again won’t show anything connected

This, plus the lines at the bottom of your output, show that Netdisco
thinks the Dell does not have LLDP or CDP. The most likely reason is that
neither is turned on.

I assume you have a 6224 or similar. The config guide is at:

ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powerconnect-6224_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf

Pages 411 ff cover LLDP, and if I read them rightly, LLDP is turned off by
default. This means that although Netdisco knows a lot about your Dell
switch, it has no idea who its neighbours are.

You (or netops, etc) need to turn on LLDP. Magic will start to happen :-)

Our tools team (whom I stole the project from because they gave up over summer)
said Netops did enable it & it still didn’t work. I’m going to have them do it
again anyways… But I was looking back at the ticket they used for it & did they
enable enough of the lldp features? Just wanted to give them an actual config
to put in place so I don’t have to wonder if they selected the right stuff. If
they did, I’m going to have them put it back in place & do my own testing so I
can at least get the netdisco-do output back to you.

console>enable
console#config
console(config)#lldp notification-interval 10
console(config)#interface range ethernet 1/g1-1/g24
console(config-if)#lldp transmit-tlv port-desc sys-name sys-desc sys-cap
console(config-if)#lldp transmit-mgmt
console(config-if)#lldp notification
console(config-if)#end

Thanks again,
Keith
