I have discovery of my Mitel phones and Cisco APs off as well, only because
with discovery on, ND2 queues jobs to discover them via SNMP which it can’t do
and I end up with thousands of stuck jobs in the queue!

Would be useful to record something though.

Subject: Re: [Netdisco] LLDP phone info extension number

I'm interested in this too. Also have Mitel phones that are noticed:

[54561] 2021-02-17 19:04:01 debug [10.3.6.24] neigh - 10.6.4.164 with ID
[10.6.4.164] on GigabitEthernet2/0/46
[54561] 2021-02-17 19:04:01 debug is_discoverable: 10.6.4.164 matches
phone_platforms but discover_phones is not enabled
[54561] 2021-02-17 19:04:01 debug [10.3.6.24] neigh - skip: 10.6.4.164 of type
[regDN 3333,MITEL 5320 IP,h/w rev 0,ASIC rev 1,f/w Boot 05.02.02.01,f/w Main
05.02.03.01] excluded by discover_* config

but I've looked in the device_port_properties table and while remote_is_phone
is true, there are no other details stored for it. Likewise, my phones are
also set to discover_no. So are my APs, and I also think it would be useful to
see my AP names on switch ports in ND, as reported from LLDP.

Web interface just shows "10.6.6.35 - LAN port" (with ip phone and inaccessible
neighbour icons)

Is this a deficiency in the SNMP::Info modules? Any clues on where to look to
see what might need to be done to populate device_port_properties with
something more useful that doesn't require query of the device itself?

(JvI alert, yes this is H3C in my case, Ricardo's looks more Ciscoish).

Jethro.

Subject: Re: [Netdisco] LLDP phone info extension number

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for getting back to me. Not sure if it's on the device_port_properties
table as I'm not sure how to query it.

That said, I ran a discover with debug and this showed:

[14943] 2021-02-17 17:36:31 debug [10.0.99.220] neigh - skip: 10.200.0.164 of
type [regDN 2555,MINET_6920,ver: 01.05.03.027,PxE: 6.5,17/02/2021 12:36:06
+0000] excluded by discover_* config

And in the environments file I don't have discover_phones true - I guess this
is why it aint' working? I had this as per the suggestion in order to avoid
SNMP queries.

Thanks - Ricardo.

Hi Ricardo

Does the device_port_properties table of the database contain anything useful
for these ports? This is additional data not always shown in the web interface.

Oliver

Hi,

Following up on this. Am I missing a package or something?

I would also like to have access points names show up - this info does show via
lldp.

Thanks - Ricardo.

Hi folks,

We recently deployed a new phone system and noticed that the IP phones are
giving us the extension number via LLDP on the switches, but not showing up in
Netdisco.

Here's an example on the switch I get:
sh lldp neighbors
Device ID Local Intf Hold-time Capability Port ID
regDN 1234,MINET_692Gi3/0/18 120 B,T 0100.aaa.bbb

"1234" is the extension number assigned to this IP phone. It is part of the
"System Name:
System Name: regDN 1234,MINET_6920

But on Netdisco, I only see the following information:
    10.1.2.50 - Port 1
(id: SEP080AAABBBB type: MINET_6920 )

Would love to be able to display the extension in netdisco and even better,
able to search for it.

Any ideas? Ricardo.
