in NM 3.x you can click on Help, then About and it should tell you your ip
address. you can then have your partner type in that address in NM and click on
the phone icon to make the call to you.
---
ie 4.0 or better is required for nm 3.x.

i went from using modem to dsl connectivity at home. it was transparent to net
meet. you probably want to change the bandwidth setting to cable/dsl instead of
modem speed in net meet.

within your dhcp server, it is possible, based on a nics mac address to
configure dhcp to give the same ip address to a particular nic mac address.
this way, your net meet people would end up with the same ip address all the
time. of course if you want to use net meet with a great number of
the 2 internet to phone products i'm aware (dialpad and myfreeld) of i do not
believe allow calls to canada.

i've used icuseeme pro and personally, i like net meeting better. both use the
ils/uls servers which take a long time to connect to a caller through. no
problem with direct entry of ip address to make a call though. another nice
thing about net meeting is the directory entires indicate user
myfreeld only uses 3 digit u.s. area codes.

you may be using netbeui only as your network protocol. use tcp/ip also/instead.
then use assigned ip addresses to make your calls.

direct ip connections seem to work fine. i use icq to determine when other
party is on and find out their current ip address assignment. then use it to
make the call.

given both parties are using icq, you can click on the persons name one time,
then click on info menu item to get persons ip address, which you can then use
to make call in net meeting. on current version of icq, you can click 1 time on
persons name and there is a telephony menu option (can't
i have same software config and use logitech's quick cam (parallel port) version
without problem. only draw back is that they say you shouldn't share the
printer port connection with a printer (not even with an a/b switch). so i just
added another parallel port card for printer connectivity.
i have found it to be not real accurate.

i found that you have to manually type in the server names with version 3.x, and
it retains x number of your last entries.

i believe when i downloaded net meeting it downloaded as a zipped .exe file that
expanded after i double clicked on it. i think it was like a 10 meg file. i
simply used the old dos backup/restore commands to back that file up to
diskettes and restore it to other computers. you could
