Always No network connection even when a network is available

Hi list, I cannot figure out how to get network manager working, it says always No network connection, even when a network is available. My /etc/init.d/interfaces: auto lo iface lo inet loopback I removed links to /etc/init.d/networking to disable configuring network devices during booting,
