CK i havent tried mounting my ntfs hdd yet..ill get to that
CK in a few minutes, but ill see if it will allow me to
CK read/write to the hdd.
DON'T WRITE TO THE ntfs HD! It is NOT reliable in linux. If you
insist, make sure you have a complete backup of everything!

Actually, I figured out the solution few hours after I sent this message.
There was a statement excludedocs=yes (or something similar) in
/etc/rpm/macros. Indeed, /etc/rpm/rpmrc is not used with Mandriva, but
/etc/rpm/macros is used instead probably with
