thats the way I use it.. it would take too long to run all the handlers I
have on my news page. Takes about 5 minutes to download all the stuff, with
timeouts, and such. TOO long to wait for a cgi to appear.
I have it setup as a cron job, which ftp's it to the server, a couple times
a day.

That's just it. CGI doesn't do embedding (except if you frame the output, I
guess). You can still call News Clipper using server-side includes, which
should have the same effect. I confess I haven't tried this though.

I'm trying to assess how many people actually use this feature. I suspect it's
about 1% of the user base.

Yeah. That's why I'm thinking it's not worth it.

I won't affect it at all, I think. Speed will be the same, other functionality
won't change, except that it will easier to add some features. :)

Exactly. No one uses it... Basically, you could call News Clipper as a CGI
script:
  http://www.server.com/cgi-bin/NewsClipper.pl
and it would update the first input file in your NewsClipper.cfg and display
it.

It seems like most people run News Clipper periodically, in the background,
instead of having it update the web page on the fly as a CGI script.

I'm dropping CGI support for the next version. Any complaints?
