Hi Geoff,
Another species to consider is Vesper Sparrow. Your call has the hockey stick
start to the spectrogram that is typical for Vesper and separates it from
White-crowned.
At 74ms it is long for a Clay-colored.

I agree with Geoff that this is Orchard Oriole.

Subject: [nfc-l] Recent activity in southwestern PA and a few questions
Hi everyone,
Lots of recent activity here in
At 2.04am on 4/2 I recorded these two birds, which I believe are AMBI and BCNH,
offering a nice comparison.

Last night I identified 4 separate birds with Bicknell's Thrush-type calls,
among the more numerous typical gray-cheeked calls.

The consensus was that based on the diurnal variation of calls "Gray-cheeked"
calls may be Bicknell's or Gray-cheeked.
Is it still safe to assume that "Bicknell's" calls are Bicknell's?
Another great flight last

Hi Chris,
I'd like to open up a discussion on Bicknell's Thrush calls. There was a
discussion on xeno-canto recently in which there was some
Friday night I recorded Pine Siskins several times between 3 and 5.30 am and
Purple Finch at 5.20am. I was surprised to hear these supposed diurnal migrants
so early. Something else of interest was Hermit Thrushes flying over with chup
calls on two occasions.

Bill,
I suspected they were RBGR but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything,
or over-calling weird off-key calls as all RBGR. It certainly is the "great
imitator" of the nocturnal flight call world.
