Re: [nfc-l] Good migration conditions tonight?

2011-05-15 Thread David La Puma
David- thanks for pointing that out. It looks like the best fallout
conditions will be along the frontal boundary currently over NY, wherever it
intersects the migration cloud currently over the Mid-Atlantic. I think
Southern NY is probably the best bet. Locally we could see some good
concentrations of birds wherever isolated storms play out. On a side note,
our World Series of Birding team had a heck of a time digging out any
migrants on Cape May Island this weekend, as we suffered from three
consecutive nights of southeast winds... the ultimate vacuum effect for this
location.

Good Birding

David

ps. just heard a Dunlin flyover on the rooftop mic

Check out the radars now...there appears to be good migration echoes
near and east of the showers and storms. Great fallout conditions
for middle atlantic???

Without knowing the average distribution of NFC's throughout a season, my hunch
is that it should be good. We're still within the "peak flight" period for NY
State, which makes me think the Mid-Atlantic still has some solid nights ahead
of it. I'm firing up my mic now!

cheers

[nfc-l] Good migration conditions tonight?

2011-05-15 Thread Andrew Albright
Here outside of Philly (NW) the clouds have disappeared and there is
actually a full moon and winds out of the south.

Should there still be good possibilities for nfc's tonight or are we
getting too late in the migration season?

Sincerely,
Andrew Albright
