Mike-- A couple of questions:
1) The Sparrow migration is steadier in spring. Or is it that you have
had nearly constant winds this spring? Are the winds nearly always more
constant in spring?
2) Are WC and WT SP using a different migration path? Where have they
shown up? I have
Last night, I recorded again, knowing it wouldn't be very good (and likewise,
wouldn't take as long to browse through...). Well, I just finished. I recorded
from 21:56-05:32 (dawn chorus started around 05:05).

Well, the most fascinating thing about any new hobby is the surprises that
occur. And this one is no different. We first started recording on Sept 29th
of last fall. We had missed most of the fall migration by starting so late.
Except we got a truly huge sparrow migration that came down a
Since March 1, our Austin city station has recorded 4250 night calls. The
quieter station 10 miles to the west had 6372. See the attached graph showing
the number of calls per hour of the night. This is for the quiet station.
This chart seems rather too convenient. I am suspicious of it.
