Although, it appears to me the correct syntax would rather be (?name...),
as perlre docs http://perldoc.perl.org/perlre.html#Extended-Patternsstate.
Then, just use you first syntax (omitting the 'set' directives).

Its docs doesn't mention that the regex are PCRE, but the hint is given
away on the build from sources http://nginx.org/en/docs/configure.htmlpage.
It reminds me that not so long ago I mixed up named captures and
subpatterns
this patch modifies the etag header returned by responses processed by
the gzip filter, appending -gzip to the etag (instead of deleting
it). Also, If-None-Match and If-Match requests work against the
modified etag.
(the gunzip module appends -gunzip to the etag).

Все зависит от объемов того что хотите хранить в мемкеше. Если объемы
будут небольшими, то можно и вместе.

Этот модуль не использует syslog(), а полностью реализует протокол на UDP.
Когда-то, насколько я помню, и такой вариант Игорь отвергал, как неприемлемый...
