valuable thanks to the shop. I can't see how those guys can work on

The plastic on mine was melted too (right where the red/black wires plug in)
but that was only the plastic. The metal conductors all seemed to be pretty
well in place. I tore it apart, cleaned everything up, spread apart the
contacts in the female connectors so they'd make a good connection,
