Thanks Allen. The rears don't bounce. I will do the other tests too! I
was just wondering because there is quite a difference on the ST. I
realized it is a smaller bike and will not be the same. I see all the
discussions on shocks and was wondering. That must be why guys upgrade.

My 750 NH got off weight on me in the driveway the other day and I dumped
it. Only real evidence of the fall is the left handlebar grip got scuffed.
No big deal, but I bought an OEM replacement. The old one is on there
tight, as it should be. Can I get it off without cutting it off? How will I
38 mpg I think. 996cc with largest carbs put on a production bike.

On May 14,
You will likely have to cut the Oem grip off, as I imagine there it's
copious grip cement holding it on. You will want to buy more, I used the
Hondabond since my dealer sells it really cheap.
I have heard that a heat gun can allow you to remove cemented grips, but I
haven't tried that yet.
Kurt
Yuck, way too low for a commuter bike.

A heat gun works great, better than just a hair dryer. They are “attached”
with low temp adhesive. Heat them up good, and they will twist/pull off.

I didn't have any luck with the gripglue, I used hairspray. It lets the
grip slide on while it's wet and sets up pretty well.

Depends on what your other daily driver gets gets. My car gets 18 mpg
on average, so 38 mpg is a great commute upgrade! Besides my NH
typically gets 43 mpg.

My 750 IS my current daily, and typically turns in 42-44. I'm hoping going
slightly smaller will be better, and I haven't ruled out a 250 for my 12
miles one-way commute.

That's not a bad deal. It would be a hell of a ride back to TX though.

I am changing my oil and unfortunately, do not have an owners manual. My
question is: to check the oil level, do I use the centerstand, or hold it
level on two wheels? I feel like the question may actually be

I've had my NH for 8 years, and in that time, I've put it on the centerstand
thousands of times. Yet, recently, I had it get away from me and fall to the
right. I still don't know why it happened. Fortunately, the only damage to the
bike was a busted mirror, easily replaced for $20.
It's supposed to be on the centerstand and not tightened down. So pull the
dipstick, wipe it, then put it back in without screwing it down and check
it again. That is your level.

I have a 2009 Kawasaki EX250R and it is a fantastic bike! I have heard
nothing but good things about the Nighthawk 250 as well. I'm sure many on
here would agree they are great bikes. I ride my 250 for fun in the canyons
but it is comfy and would be a fine commuter.
