Yea. The cheap Chinese ones are like that. Make sure that the big two tabs and
the two small ones go where they should. Mine had to be put in backwards.

Quick question. The new solenoid arrived, but the B and M posts are backwards.
Cables aren't long enough to reach. Suggestions? Is it possible to reverse
posts?

Take a paper clip and straighten it out and then smash down one end flat
with hammer. Now you have a tool to remove the wires from the plug. Then
move them to the hole in the plug that puts them where they need to go.

You guys rock. I'll let you know how this turns out. On another note does
anybody rebuild carbs I am considering buying a spare set and just doing them
and swapping the whole unit out and doing it again. I know I would screw
something up if I did it myself.

PS Thanks Tommy

You
Alright. I can rebuild them. You need to get them to me, and I will have a
look. Rebuild kits are about $20/piece and you need four. Then there might be
parts. Does your bike rrun, now?

Joel, if you want a set of spare 650 carbs to swap in just email me off
list. I have a cleaned, ready for reassembly set I'll sell you.

I would keep looking for better looking carbs. Those are ROUGH! They won't
clean up very easily. Please someone correct me if I am wrong

This looks like a better set, the screws still have the caps, and the
throats aren't butchered like the ones you posted.
Well that PD cleaning PDF will give you something to read, lol.

Joel, lots of us can rebuild carbs and you can to. Do one at a time and you've
always got three to compare.

I just don't have the time. I'm a junior at Appalachian state and it's about to
get real here in Boone. Just wanted to see if anybody has a side business
rolling because I like this bike and I'd rather keep it on the road than in
pieces because I can't dedicate the time to it.

When you've got a 30+ year old bike one of your hobbies is inevitably
motorcycle repair. I certainly prefer riding to wrenching but that's just
how it is. Cleaning and tuning carbs is daunting at first but after the
first few times you get used to it.

If I bought this and a rebuild kit I'm confident that I could swap it out in a
reasonable timeframe.

Allen's suggestion of a paperclip is a good one. Also a very fine jeweler's
screwdriver works too. It's a single-tang retention clip, just depress the
tang with your tool and GENTLY pull on the wire to remove the terminal.
If a gentle pull does not do it you need to reposition the tool. Don't
+1 on Kurte. Kurte knows what he is doing and I bet his are much better than
those!
