I second this, there's no point in only cleaning 2 of the 4.

I recently leased a sizeable storage unit for pretty cheap
(15'x15'x12' for $125/month) and have started moving all my crap
there. It has a built-in mechanism for disposal. If I don't show up
with cash every month, they cut the lock and auction off my stuff to

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: ‘86 CB650 in Altitude

2018-08-24 Thread EGrider
Back in the 80's, I moved my CB550K from Cleveland, OH to Denver. I don't
believe I did anything to it regarding the carbs. I now live in Atlanta,
but I just got back from a visit to Denver on my bike yesterday. I
certainly didn't do anything to it, and it rode fine, although I never went
farther into the high country than Evergreen. After you ride your bike for
a while, check the spark plugs. If they are black from running too rich,
you should adjust the mixture screws to lean the air/gas mixture. I believe
this is done by turning them in, or tightening them. If you've never done
this, the manual of YouTube can help out.

BTW, I had a little trouble with my bike while I was there this time, and I
found a guy in Westminster who works on old bikes, although he seems to
work pretty slowly so he's got bikes coming out his ears in the shop. If
you would like his number, let me know, although I just got it by calling
Sun and asking if they knew anyone who worked on older bikes. You can do
the same.

Agree with above. Your slow jets are clogged. When you use choke you dump
extra fuel in carbs. With out it, you rely only on slow jet to idle and to
about 1/4 turn of throttle. Clean them good. Not hard to do.
