I recently pulled my '96 750 Nighthawk out to Denver. Partially to escape
the 100-degree heat, I rode it up into the mountains. The bike stalled in a
little town in the mountains, and when I went to start it, I had no neutral
light even when it was in neutral and pushing the starter button did
nothing. I rolled it down a hill, bump started it, and rode it back to
Denver in a panic.
When I got to Denver, I turned it off and tried to restart it. No change in
situation.Put a new $100 battery in it for the trip, and the voltmeter
showed it was charging.
Two hours later after a bite to eat, I tried it again. Neutral light came
on and bike started right up. I was naturally relieved, but now I'm
wondering if the problem won't resurface.
I'm think neutral indicator switch? But that shouldn't matter as long as
the clutch is engaged, which it was.
Any ideas?
