I've experienced spontaneous reboots too, though they only happen after I
update my NixOS. This doesn't happen immediately but rather when I'm away from
keyboard some time after.

Wow.
Thank you _SO MUCH_ for reporting back.
I really hope that it is a software issue, I really do not want to
repair hardware or smth like that, so if this is really a software
issue it is annoying but I can live with that, because software errors
are way cheaper to fix. :-)

I have X220 and suffer from exactly the same problem, I had it at official
thinkpad service for 2weeks or so... just to be sure, they put it through
all posible tests, the laptop worked flawlessly - they did not find
anything wrong with hardware. This reboot event happens every few months or
so,
Matthias,
Systemd is well known to often lose logs on all crashes.

I have a probably-unrelated issue, but mentioning it just in case. Mine
involves VirtualBox. When starting up I will log in and open my email or
something, but in the background the vboxnet0 service will be failing to start
via systemd. When it times out after 90 sec the X server is killed

One of my machines (a model different from yours) would turn off at
random times. I "solved" the issue by pulling the battery out and
leaving the laptop on AC power all the time.

I don't think it is overheat. My device is at ~56-60 °C all the time,
sometimes up to 70°C when doing compile jobs or such things, and it is
rather warm here anyways, but I wouldn't say it is overheated.

Also this happened only when plugged in by now.

But if xfce triggers a shutdown, this causes some
The chromium messages are probably unrelated, they happen all the time
here too (due to some sandboxing issue I think, plus over noisy audit
subsystem)

Hi,
this is the third time I got a unwanted, unannounced reboot of my
Thinkpad X220. The device just went off and rebooted.
