Why not? If Nixpkgs contains $name and $version in an unambiguous

Hi folks,
the Github issue #13011 [1] asks an interesting question, namely: can we

Hi Martin,
Eelco suggested [1] the command

ad-hoc parsing of the Nixpkgs tree. Maybe this technique can help

The Problem
---
Users of Nixpkgs want to build Haskell packages that have no recent
release, i.e. the software's authors have not updated their code to deal
with modern versions of the respective build dependencies. The required
old versions, however, may not be available in Nixpkgs, and t
Hi folks,
this may not be obvious, so I felt I should better point out that the
Haskell part of the User Manual is already generated from Markdown. See
doc/haskell-users-guide.md and doc/default.nix for further details.

Also, we need a Hydra module for NixOS so that NixOS users can set-up
Hydra easily through their configuration.nix file.
Hi James,

what version of NixOS do you use? The "ghc7.8.3-0.12-shared" bit of the
package name suggests it's something rather old.

Hi folks,
I've prepared an update of the Haskell package set for the release-15.09
branch [1], but I'm unsure whether to merge it or not. What is our
policy with regard to this matter? Do we update Haskell packages in
release branches or don't we?
The problem I see is that the normal approach of
