Re: [Nix-dev] YouCompleteMe in 16.09

2017-03-19 Thread Tilo Schwarz
Thank you all for your replies, now I have to digest it ...

(I think what most "normal" users would expect: After plugin installation,
vim "just finds" the new plugin after restart.)

[Nix-dev] YouCompleteMe in 16.09

2017-03-19 Thread Tilo Schwarz
Hi,

I try to get YouCompleteMe running. I put

vimPlugins.YouCompleteMe and
ycmd

in my packages list and I can see the packages in /nix/store. But vim
doesn't seem to find it and I couldn't find a configuration option.

I see two options:
- Change vims runtime path to include the specific /nix/store/... location
- Symlink the /nix/store/... location into my .vim/plugin/
- ?

What would be the "nixos-correct" way to proceed?

Thank you,
Tilo

Hmm, what is really strange though: I am on usually pretty stable and fast
connection and do a lot networking. And never saw any 'Couldn't resolve
host' errors in other situations. But when doing 'nixos-rebuild switch' I
see it every other time ...

[Nix-dev] nixos-rebuild switch error

2017-03-06 Thread Tilo Schwarz
Hi,

from time to time I have an error doing "nixos-rebuild switch" (see below,
I stored the last lines including the error messages).

What is strange: If I simply execute above command a second time, the
command succeeds.

Maybe someone has an idea, what could be wrong.

Thank you,
Tilo

I tried installing google-chrome, but I get

# nix-env -i google-chrome-55.0.2883.87
warning: there are multiple derivations named ‘google-chrome-55.0.2883.87’;
using the first one
installing ‘google-chrome-55.0.2883.87’
error: No Chrome plugins are available for your architecture.
(use ‘--show-trace’ to show detailed location information)

I am on i686.

Maybe that's the same reason it doesn't work right now.

What is really strange though: Chromium claims that everything related to
flash was found and is working (see my OP), but still on web pages with
flash is says "flash not found".

Thank you,
Tilo

[Nix-dev] Flash in Cromium

2017-02-03 Thread Tilo Schwarz
Hi Nix-Devs,

thank you for creating such a great stateless OS, really nice!

One question regarding Flash.

I installed as root on

# uname -a
Linux schleppa 4.4.40 #1-NixOS SMP Fri Jan 6 10:16:31 UTC 2017 i686
GNU/Linux

from

nixpkgs https://nixos.org/channels/nixpkgs-unstable

chromium-55.0.2883.87

It triggered a source build and worked. Additionally I installed

flashplayer-24.0.0.194

and did

#nixos-rebuild switch

a few times since then.

I have
# cat .nixpkgs/config.nix
{
   allowUnfree = true;

   chromium = {
 enablePepperFlash = true; # Chromium removed support for Mozilla
(NPAPI) plugins so Adobe Flash no longer works
 enablePepperPDF = true;
 # enableWideVine = true;
};
}
in place.

So now I have

# nix-env -qP
1  chromium-55.0.2883.87
0  flashplayer-24.0.0.194

If I ask chrome about flash, it tells me

So it looks ok to me. But still I can not use flash on any web page, I
always get a message like "no flash player found".

Any ideas?
