We use SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (SLES 11) to do NT-style domains (because I hate Active Directory) and it uses LDAP so it can be tied into other systems. (You could just as easily use OpenSuSE but we needed Enterprise support, so we went with SLES.) Works fine with XP and Vista. Windows
