That's bad enough, but
1       It does naughty things to my screen before it needs to.
2       Having done those naughty things, it does not undo them when it 
discovers it didn't need to do them in the first place.

Happens in kvt and konsole, both components of kde, and in xterm.

I'm running Red Hat Linux 6.1, nmh-1.0-6

In case it's not clear, the 'naughty thing' is (at the very least) turning 
off the echoing of keyboard input; the reset command clears the problem 
)and the screen!).

I think I've had this problem before too, with other commands in nmh.
