has been unusually intense, and notably, so far 100% negative toward
the discussed Chrome changes. 

In particular, I have already heard from a couple of corporate IT
managers who say they will DROP Chrome as their standard browser if
the URL mangling features now in Beta reach their systems. They note
that they've spent years training their users to inspect and copy URLs
very carefully to avoid all manner of problems, and they agree with my
assertion that this sort of mangling and mutability of displayed URLs
will add confusion and the potential for costly errors.
