More on "Chrome Is Hiding URL Details -- and It's Confusing People Already!"
Reaction to last night's post: "Chrome Is Hiding URL Details -- and It's Confusing People Already!" - https://lauren.vortex.com/2018/07/10/chrome-is-hiding-url-details-and-its-confusing-people-already has been unusually intense, and notably, so far 100% negative toward the discussed Chrome changes. In particular, I have already heard from a couple of corporate IT managers who say they will DROP Chrome as their standard browser if the URL mangling features now in Beta reach their systems. They note that they've spent years training their users to inspect and copy URLs very carefully to avoid all manner of problems, and they agree with my assertion that this sort of mangling and mutability of displayed URLs will add confusion and the potential for costly errors. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lau...@vortex.com): https://www.vortex.com/lauren Lauren's Blog: https://lauren.vortex.com Google Issues Mailing List: https://vortex.com/google-issues Founder: Network Neutrality Squad: https://www.nnsquad.org PRIVACY Forum: https://www.vortex.com/privacy-info Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: https://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Google+: https://google.com/+LaurenWeinstein Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list https://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
