Hi Lenny,
The amount you use for your cash flow start should be your net
available cash as of 2/1/09. This means you would subtract all those
1/30 and 1/31 expenses. This will start you off correctly for the month.

But all those 1/30 and 1/31 expenses are really February expenses and
I want the buckets to reflect that. Will that still be the case?
Should I set my Cash Flow Start Date to 1/1/09 instead?

For reporting perposes, they are January expenses. The cash flow will
be correct though because you deducted them from your initial amount.
