[No Thirst Software] Re: using idisk as file location
https://www.getdropbox.com/ It's an online/local syncing service, much, much, much faster than iDisk. +1 for DropBox. I don't use it for MoneyWell, but for a few other apps and it works great for synchronizing them. The key is to remember to quit those apps when you're finished so you don't accidentally get two instances of them updating the file. matt. Brent, This will only work if you have iDisk Sync on. This allows you to have local iDisk storage on your hard disk and it will sync with the cloud. It is a good option though and I forget about it. Just make sure that you open the MoneyWell document locally all the time. I keep my MW file in my Documents folder on my iDisk. I have iDisk set for 'Manual Update'. After I finish updating MW, I just hit the 'Sync Button' in Finder. I have been doing this for probably a year and have not had a problem yet. I don't know if I misunderstood your question, or have just been lucky so far. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "No Thirst Software User Forum" group. I currently do this with Dropbox and it has worked well for me so far. They offer 2 GB accounts for free. Hi Tony, You can't use your iDisk for this because it doesn't support the type of database access that MoneyWell uses. There are other products that allow you to sync folders and documents between two computers (I believe DropBox works well). You can also copy your updated file to your iDisk and then back down to the other computer or you can share a folder on a local network. Just make sure that you always only have one copy of MoneyWell accessing document at one time. There is no multi-user access.
