"Another approach is a rigid selection mode, which you activate by some key
and selects all text from that position to the current cursor position."

I like that idea. Very simple, you would think, to implement, and very flexible.
It's decades since I used an editor with a select mode, I think it was EDT under
VMS, but I occasionally still miss it. It lets you do things like enter text
that you intend to copy elsewhere, while already in select mode, then simply
copy and paste without having to select it first.

Hi,

I've been searching for a solution to enable css highlight within a html file.
Does anyone know how to achieve this?

Thanks.

You are better off letting the extension do it for you, than using regedit :)

Open a new commandprompt, browse to the N++ folder, type
regsvr32 /u nppcm.dll

It should give a message unregistering has worked.

Thanks for the great new release - I really like the new highlighting/find
features
in particular.

One minor bug that I find: when doing particularly complex find-in-files
searches
(ones with loose wildcards or many subfolders), I find that NPP refuses to open
any more files. This includes when double-clicking on the results list for a
file that isn't already open, and also using File->Open. I don't know if this
has been noticed already, but I couldn't find a matching post. If you can't
replicate this, I can try to be more specific.

Thanks for your hard work.

Al

Do you know what I mean now? If I use nativeLang.xml, sometimes these items
appear in the MRU list:

(Could be an error in the language file though.)

I know this feature from OpenEditor, another free open source editor.
It's so called "Column Selection Mode" is great. You can select, copy and paste
rectangular text areas. If you select a vertical line you can simply type in
your text in multiple lines.

This is very helpful e.g. in SQL when you have to create similar INSERT
statements.
OpenEditor is part of SQLtools, which is an open Oracle front end.

Another feature of OpenEditor is the availability to handle very large files.
It doesn't read the whole file into the text buffer, it reads only 2 MB of your
file (configurable option). When you try to work on areas of the file which
weren't already loaded, it will take it from the disk on the fly.
