I updated my definitions and performed a manual scan on the file and I'm no longer receiving an alter. I used to use Notepad++ on Windows, and I found it excellent. But now that I have switched to Linux, I can't use it. I know there are tons of alternatives (many of which are good), and I know that I can use WINE. I would prefer to use Notepad++ itself, instead of the alternatives, because I am so much used to it. WINE indeed does some emulation, but the result is not just perfect.
