Sometimes it happens when i copy and paste, sometimes I'll have it minimized, bring it back up and it is locked up, and today it did it while I was refreshing a page with a google map in it.. which was really weird. Then I have to do the ctl+alt+del dance and kill it. I can't seem to find anything specific I am doing to make this happen and have been watching very closely for weeks now. If the language is not supported in the rule files, you have to write the rules - and it would be nice to share them then. The files are just right. FunctionListRules.xml lives in the plugins\config folder. C++.ftb is a bitmap file which is also expected there. FunctionList.dll, as expected, is expected in \Plugins. As Dave mentioned, chances are that you have stuff both in %APPDATA% and Notepad++ folder.

How do I access it? I used to use Slick Edit and I was fine with the way it handled tabs. It would put a very light gray % symbol in the first position of the tab, but you could set that character to anything. It looks like I have to run a macro everytime I open a file to rid myself of the margin. That would be a quite a bit annoying. Nevertheless, I tried the directions. I found shortcuts.xml in Program Files/NPP... and in %AppData%/NPP... I added that section of code. I restarted NPP. I go to Macro/Run macro multiple times, and the only one listed is the other Macro, Trim Trailing Space. I re-open the shortcuts.xml files, and the one in %APPDATA% has wiped away my changes. I can see why the designer might want to implement it this way, because what's the point of having the program open if you are not working with anything, but I disagree. It's nice to have a blank screen when there is nothing open so you have a starting point, also so you are assured all documents are closed. Plus, nearly every program I've used that can open multiple documents has the ability to stay open with no documents open. It would be nice if the program conformed to what was standard. It would be nice if the 2 were broken up. When I open documents I always look for tabs to filter them out if there are any, so I leave tabs showing all of the time. However, I don't like to leave spaces showing all of the time because it clutters the screen. It would be great if NPP had an option to toggle the viewing of spaces and tabs independent of each other.
