  Hi.

Actually solution 1) seems preferable to the current one. YMMV but that way,
in cases I encounter most often in practice, bookmarks would remain in
or close-enough to the correct position.

My main use cases where this is a real PITA would be:

  1. log files which get appended to by an external process.
  2. source files updated from a source control system which usually, with
updates
not being too far apart, get only a small percentage of their content
changed/added/removed.

Current solution makes bookmarks never useful under such circumstances.

I believe UltraEdit bookmarks function this way and I found them really
pleasant
to use.

  Hope this helps.

  Best regards,
    Jurko Gospodneti?

This seems the best way to easily improve the functionality.

Of course the document could be completely different after the external change,
but at least you get to keep some "information" about it. Scanning the bookmarks
will give you a quick impression of what, where or how much was changed. I
assume
you know "where" you set your bookmarks, as they aren't read from the file
itself.

Next to that, you can always use the Compare Plug-In to check the external file
against the internal document, to see all the changes.

I guess the original requester would smile if solution 1 was implemented.
Be careful, though, not to set bookmarks (back) on lines that don't exist
anymore.

Harry,

Puik werk! :-)

Two notes:
* With the 'new' version (still numbered 0.0.0.1, BTW), a javascript regular
expression containing a space has that space magically doubled when exported
to RTF. It's displayed correctly in HTML (even the HTML source doesn't have
two spaces).
* I agree with Don, it would be very nice to be able to copy the styled
(selected)
text onto the clipboard ? though I'd personally prefer it to be the HTML text;
that would allow pasting into Thunderbird and GMail etc. as well as in Word.

There's jedit for all your platforms. It's free and has 144 developers instead
of 6 for N++. Looking at these numbers, N++ is remarkable.

i would like to say i have developed lots of scripts and applications inside
of notepad ++ already and i have only been using for about a month and a half.

the language selection is a great feature and i find it to be very innovative.
(up until now i have only used apps like windows notepad or kwrite etc...)

i know it is not a great idea but have the creators thought about hta as a
language
selection? granted the hta language is html mixed with vbs and java but i think
that would be great. especially for the windows web app people who mix multiple
languages like i do.

just a suggestion, and thanks for the killer app! i am getting all my coders
into using it, no complaints yet!

I would love for Beginning-of-Line to be in the shortcut Mapper, but only
Beginning-of-Text is there (with a blank name, but it's the one mapped to HOME).
I tried to remap it to Ctl+HOME, but HOME acted just the same way. Damn.

There are no "General" tab in settings in v4.6. I'm still going to use
Notepad++,
but I may get bruises from hitting myself in the head when it goes to the
beginning
of text.

Hey, you led me to a workaround for this problem.

I went to Settings->Shortcut Mapper->Line 66 (a blank name shortcut), which
maps to HOME. I reassigned it to Alt+HOME. Then my Alt+Home Macro could be
assigned
to the HOME key. Halleluja! I'm glad they didn't negate each other, but I could
have assigned it to Alt+Ctrl+Shift+HOME to get it completely out of the way.
I just thought I might use Smart HOME someday. People seem to swear by it.

This should really be a named shortcut that can be assigned, or a preferences
checkbox, since the issue has come up before. I don't have a problem with the
more popular definition winning, but it's not really HOME now is it? Give me
the option not to use a feature.

Thanks.

Hallo!
I am not an IT-professional but an end-user attracted to using a good product
and I need some information on:
- documentation describing in some depth what 'my language' will allow an
end-user
to do
- using makefile or some such facility to add categories and keywords to text
and other objects
- is anyone working on a CSV to HTML or CSV to XML plugin?
- is anyone working on a plugin for inclusion of simple vector graphics?
I hope to hear from anyone on each of the topics. It might lead to me giving
away some interesting scenario materiial.
Kind regards, Patrick Forkin.

Yo!

When I save document in Notepad++ in utf8 charset it puts 3 chars in the
beginning
of document (files) (wiewed by integrated hex editor). These 3 chars make latex
compiler stop working. I also tryed Notepad2 and saved in utf8, but there was
no chars in the beginnning and latex compiled successfully. So why Notepad++
do these 3 chars?

Well, once I get theclipboard sorted out I suppose both HTML and RTF can be
added, even at the same time. Point is, you have to figure out just how much
memory it would take to generate the clipboard content, and then actually write
it. It'd be nice if it didn't do everything twice =].

Can you post that regular expression? RTF uses spaces to determine the end of
a control keyword so it may trip because of that.

The wrong buffer issue is being fixed (already is, not released)
