This does not work in version 4.0.2. I cannot find any way to replace

<td>
</td>

with

<td></td>

Also, the CTRL+R box is not apparently available from the pull-down menus.

It seems not all settings for HTML files are applied to the file text. Also,
settings are not _always_ applied. I wonder how to change these, or possibly
what other (file types') settings I have to change in order to affect the HTML
style.

Problems I found:

COMMENT None of these settings seems to have any effect
NUMBER This setting does affect numbers as attributes values, but:
It does not affect numbers between parentheses, as well as separate
numbers, although these both seem to be recorgnized as numbers. They _are_ shown
in red. Are these a separate category? There is no other category/Styl in HTML
that has a red foreground color...

SINGLESTRING _Underlining_ is done in a default color, not in the foreground
color. It is orange-like, as is the white-space color. Changing the default
white-space symbol color, does affect the _Underlining_ for SINGLESTRING

SGMLDEFAULT _Underlining_ is done in another foreground color. This is also
the same white-space symbol color.

Possibly other styles have their problems as well. I was not able to test them
all. I did not find any effect for ENTITY, for example, but I don't know what
I should expect. I simply don't know what an ENTITY is.

My main problem was that COMMENTs are not by default in the same font as all
other styles. I guess this would be no problem if the COMMENTs' settings would
be applied right. The style would follow the general default for fonts, which
is Courier New as I like.

Another question related to my playing around with these settings: (HOW) can
I simply return to all default values for a certain style or possibly all styles
(otherwise than by re-installing)?

I downloaded the .bin.zip package and copied the styles.xml file to my Notepad++
folder. This seems to do the trick. I'll post another question about getting
separate files.

To get the default settings back for the Style Configurator, I unzipped the
styles.xml file from the .bin.zip package. I had to download this package to
be able to do so. This is not so much different from downloading and/or
reinstalling
the total Notepad++ package itself.

Will you think about enabling downloading of separate files?
It would be convenient to be able to download individual files form the .bin.zip
package. I guess the file list could also be shown on the download page,
including
a hyperlink to download each separate file (from an original location, other
than the actual zip-file of course). A small description of each file could
be very useful for finding a (possibly messed up) file one wants to restore,
like the default settings.

The COMMENT settings DO apply to HTML <...> comments including the meta tag(?):

<!-- <meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="blendTrans(Duration=0.2)">
<meta http-equiv="Page-Exit" content="blendTrans(Duration=0.2)"> -->

but "code comment"( line)s preceded by // are not affected at all.
They _are_ shown as comments, though: colored green and in the Comic Sans MS
font.
I would expect these also to be shown with the HTML COMMENT settings.
Otherwise, there should be a separate category/style for these comments.

Possibly because of solving the focus problem when returning from other
applications,
this problem is caused.

I use the keyboard a lot, because my mouse is out often. I did open the
Preferences
window, but the same happens for the Style Configurator (in the menu called
Style_R_ configurator). When this window is on top and I return from another
application to Notepad++, this window is not active. The current text file has
the focus. Now I can find no way to close the Preferences window on top.

Is there _any_ way I can achieve this by using the keyboard?
Will you be working on a solution for this focus/window activity problem?

I also opened the Shortcut Mapper and was glad to see the Close button had a
focus (then). I switched to another application using ALT+TAB and wanted to
switch back. HUH? Where has my Notepad++ gone??? It was not in the application
icon list, but it was still on the task bar. I could bring it to front again
and also the Shortcut Mapper was not active now. But, even worse, I also did
not have focus in the current text file. I tried to open the Shortcut Mapper
again, hoping to get the focus back, but I simply couldn't: the ALT button did
not activate the menu. It seems like Notepad++ now has no focus anywhere at all.

2. Find what: text to be searched for
3. Click on "Find all in al opened documents"
4. At the results text area
4.1 Ctrl-A to select all
4.2 Ctrl-C to copy into a buffer in memory

Hope this helps.

I have two issues/questions with this feature:

1. Is there a search recursively feature? For example, I want to search for
"<stdio.h>" in all *.h file under directories C:\Work\Projects

2. When the search is taking too long, is there a graceful way to stop it? I
only know how to kill the process. The "Cancel" button does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
P

Great editor, but there is one small but handy feature missing.

User can't jump to a specific tab via a key shortcut.
In some editors this is implemented so that pressing Alt-number would activate
a given tab. So pressing Alt-1 would open the most leftmost (first) tab,
pressing
Alt-2 would open the second tab and so on.

It seems that in this editor the shortcut Alt-number is already taken, so maybe
Ctrl-number could be used? And it would be a blast if this feature could be
configured in Shortcut Mapper ;)

I am aware that there is Ctrl-Tab shortcut for switching between tabs, but it
is different feature compared to a direct tab switch.

I hope that this feature would be implemented in some time in future.
Thanks in advance.
