Hi,

    I'd like to replace in a document, say, a blank space with a tab
character. How can I define a tab character: \t, or ^t?

   Thank you.

I can agree that the overload of 3D effect is not so neat, but for the rest
I clearly prefer the actual look and feel of N++ compare to your proposition.
if you look back in this forum, you will find several subjects on that domain
with other proposals. May be we should organize a vote for the best proposal.

You're right, while installing I used the actual HexEditor plugin, instead of
the HexEditor version, that comes with Notepad++. Now, using this "original"
version, everything is all right.

Thanks for your help,
  Wolfgang

open a file. Delete that file in explorer. Come back to notepad++. A dialog
pops up asking whether to keep non-existent file in the editor. Click No -
crashes.
This scenario is pretty common when you are opening attachments sent via email
where the attachment is saved to a temp location and deleted later by the mail
client.

In NotePad++ a file can't be saved, if it hasn't changed.
This is a good feature, in my opinion, because what use would it be?

But, when I decide to _not_ reload a file after it has been changed externally,
because I want to keep it like it was, how do I manage to do this?

I can't simply save the file again.
I could Save As... under the same filename. This works.
I could also change the file and rechange it to be like it was before (not use
the undo feature), so NP++ marks the file as changed. I can save the file then.

I was thinking about requesting the file to be marked as changed, if it is not
reloaded. But this would mess up the undo-history. It would not be clear anymore
that within NP++ really nothing has changed.

Could you simply allow saving the file (Save me), if it was not reloaded?
This doesn't mess with any undo-history: it won't mark the file as having
changed.
Because it can be seen that the file hasn't changed, it will be obvious that
Save Me will be enabled because of an external (possible) change.

I've posted this a thousand times, with no answer at all from the devs. I find
the bracket hi-lighting feature
fantastic. It has made my life 10 times easier. I'm asking for this to be done
only with html tags. For example, in complicated nests, it would be nice to
be able to click on the opening html tag and have the closing html tag that
it pertains to highlight.

Don & Jens, is this feature possible? Or in no way to be considered. Begging
for this feature!

-Jive

I am a mech engineer who does occasional Fortran and c coding.
I find that Notepad ++ is an extremely well designed and conceptualized piece
of software.
The the attention given to minute details of the user interface should give
the engineers at Apple an inferiority complex.

Hello all developers of Notepad++, thanks for your great job!
Here is description of a small bug in highlighting of C/C++.
Simply try this piece of code:
#define DATA_CONFIG(nMode,Rate,Rate_4_,nDataRate) \
   if (nMode == CONFIG_G) \
   { \
      nDataRate = (Rate) * MIN_DATARATE + (Rate_4_) * 200; \
   } \
   else if (nMode == CONFIG_G_1) \
   { \
      nDataRate = (Rate) * MIN_DATARATE + (Rate_4_) * 100; \
   } \
   else /*(nMode == CONFIG_G_1)*/ \
   { \
      nDataRate = (Rate) * MIN_DATARATE; \
   }

after comment /*(nMode == CONFIG_G_1)*/ code is not recognized as part
of macro.
And at all definition of a macro function is not in the "Function List" plugin.
I think, here some time can be investigated to solve this.

Hi it took me a long time to figure out why my NP++ has a very strange
behaviour:

On program start there were some small grey and empty tabs over the editors
main document. It was possible to edit the text in the main tab but: closing
or moving the grey tab leads to a crash of NP++.
I found out the reason: This problems occurs always when I have an extension
of the desktop on a second monitor...
Please check out if there are problems while determining the monitors size.

I would be very glad if you fixed that problem very soon, as I like to work
with NP++ as well as with my second monitor

Thank you for this nice program!

Hallo allerseits, es dauerte eine lange Zeit, bis ich die Ursache f?r st?ndige
Abst?rze meines NP++ herausfand:

Vielen Dank und have a nice day...

Karl
