You could use the underscore character _ to represent each single space
character,
or perhaps another character that even allows simply counting the number of
occurrences (~ ?)

Windows XP Professional. There is an error if you open more than one document
simultaneaus: _hSelf == null.
If you open the program so, after that, you open multiple documents there are
not errors.

I'm using version 4.2.2 with Win2K Pro.
The program had been working fine since I wrote my last comment but when I went
to use it today, same problem, same error messages. Config.xml and Styler.xml
were both again missing from the /Notepad++Portable/Notepad++/ folder. I copied
them same as last time and the problem went away.
Just in case it matters, I will tell you that the last file I opened with NP++
was since opened in another HTML editor (Homesite), modified, and saved under
a different name.
Keep up the great work, thanks for your attention to this.

I am using latest Notepad++ and when I go to open it, it crashes with this
Windows
Message:
Application popup: C:\Documents and Settings\kevin\Desktop\new 2 - Notepad++:
notepad++.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception
(0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x00452127.
Click on OK to terminate the program
The above is from Event Viewer obviously.
The reason I updated to newest version was to fix this problem in previous
version.
A reinstall fixes the problem and its ok for a few days and then the original
problem returns. I don't seem to see a pattern. I am using Windows 2000 with
gig of ram.
My previous version went for ages, may be 12 months without problems, then the
same problem started.

Sorry, but no.
You can just go to TextFX - Edit - Autoindent C++ code if you want that. Or,
use the VB editor!

Could you confirm me the version you use (the version number is in About box)?
Did you try to reopen Notepad++ ?
Does it crash again? If so, could you send me the zipped Notepad++ directory?

Don,
I'm just glad you're keeping with NPP and keeping it updated and active. I
know I've seen lots of open-source that look really promising, and then the
lead developer gets tired of the project, and leaves it to dwindle in obscurity.
Keep the releases coming. As long as you're willing to keep chasing down bugs
and releasing new builds, we're willing to just keep installing and using your
free software. :)
