To: notepad-plus-plus@lists.sourceforge.net Message-ID: <49b54753.3060...@opengeo.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Hi there everyone. I'm new to the list, but I'm a longtime N++ user. At my workplace, we have recently started switching our documentation from Confluence to Sphinx (for GeoServer, if anyone's interested in GIS). Sphinx uses reStructuredText for its syntax, which Notepad++ doesn't seem to support natively. :( Is there a plugin for this format, or are there any plans to support rst in the future? Thanks, Mike Pumphrey OpenGeo - http://opengeo.org ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 09 Mar 2009 15:55:54 +0000 From: "SourceForge.net" <nore...@sourceforge.net> Subject: [Notepad-plus-plus] [notepad-plus - Open Discussion] RE: how to setup for latex in notepad++ To: nore...@sourceforge.net Message-ID: <6712114.331...@sourceforge.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6712114 By: cocinerox Hi, google is your friend... However if you use the Language menu to chose the language or save the file before adding the code, or if after you save you close and reopen, the highlighting will be correct. As for Gudjon Jonsson's issue, that appears to be a different problem. Please do a search to see if your issue or a similar enough problem has already been reported, and if not please start a new thread and describe your problem in detail. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. While not the most powerful for defining language syntax, the UDD can be used to define "close enough" equivalents of most languages. As far as I know, there is no "converter" tool to convert language definitions from one code editor to another. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Simply donwload the .zip file, instead of the .exe auto-installer, and you'll find 2 folders: Ansi and Unicode (and this explains why the zip is bigger than the exe!). Copy the content of the Ansi one somewhere and launch it. Of course, you may want to import your session, stylers and so on, but the point is that you are not forced to use 5.0.2 (apart from the fact that there's also 5.0.3, but I suppose it's a typo or that you just don't remember well). The latest stable release (currently, 5.2) is here: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=95717&package_id=102072 but if you look into the Open Discussion forum, Don has just announced the Release Candidate for 5.3. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Whilst I very much like NotePad++, it does seem to have a growing bug list - especially after a new release (maybe it should be released less often with more QA and regression testing). Unfortunately, just because a Release Candidtae is available doesn't mean anyone is actually going to test it adequately or thoroughly or in the areas that I use it, before it is released. Again, I am not picking on NotePad++, it is the same for virtually every product I have seen (less likely in commercial applications because if it doesn't work - they lose customers and their money!). These are all personal decisions. Mine is to wait to go to the newer release and to go to the Unicode version only when FunctionList V2 (or later) is available. I am not sure why the author won't let someone else convert it to Unicode (even one other 'trusted' person, if they don't want it in the public domain). Any bugs/problems I have with 5.0.2 - I can live with. Even the few in FunctionList V2 alpha. I like NotePad++ and will continue to use it. I must admit that very high on my list (just below FunctionList V2+) is the ability to do column editing like UltraEdit. I still use that editor (an ancient version) when I need to do this and it would be really really nice if it was in NotePad++. Many thanks for the good work .. but I will just wait a bit longer thanks. I have files on a server (html, php, js, etc...), and I'll open them up in Notepad++ and every single line break is instead two. So its like double-spaced. If I open the same file in Windows Notepad, it looks like it should. I'm on Windows XP. Thanks for any help! ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Simply put, this software is awesome! However, it's missing a few good features. 1. PHP parameter hints for custom functions. I mean the thing when you type in a function name and press ctrl-shift-space. This works fine on native functions, but it would be a LOT better if it worked with your own functions aswell. This is the main reason i have tried several other programs, but sadly that's the only positive thing about those other programs. Even an ability to create php file with only functions and load functions (for parameter hinting) from that file would be so much easier than current system (editing the API file). I haven't even got that thing to work. 2. Feature for projects. It would be just kickass to swap between projects as easily as you are changing between documents now. When you have multiple projects it's annoying to close up to tens of documents and open tens of other documents again for other project. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I'm trying to work more efficiently in it however, one of the things I find myself doing often is copying and pasting text into the editor while working with HTML, text that is meant to display as copy on a website. When I view the HTML in a browser however, special characters are not translated and display as a diamond with a question mark. I can get around this by encoding the characters as HTML entities, but that is pretty cumbersome for long blocks of text, and the find and replace can get confused with characters like " and ', which are also used in HTML tags and should remain the unchanged. So my question is, is there some way to have Notepad++ encode these special characters for me, or is there some other approach I can use to accomplish the same thing. Thanks!! ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
