If you can hold out for just a little while longer all will be better.

If not, either update to the latest build or go to the Preferences -> Styler
Configurator -> Global Styles and change the saved and unsaved colors to match
your background colors.

Saved and Unsaved colors! Thanks! I actually looked there, but didn't know what
I was looking for.

That's good enough for me!

Cheers,
Av

Apologies if this has been asked for. I tried to search, but got all kinds of
hits not related to N++...

Anyway, I really miss my old DOS editor PE for one reason - it had <ctrl><pgup>
and <ctrl><pgdn> mapped to go to the top and bottom of the page respectively.

Unless, of course, there's already a way to do that, and I'm too dense to see
it :)

Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End should do what you want if I understand what your asking
correctly.
I'd rather have Ctrl+PgUp and Ctrl+PgDn act similar to firefox where its the
previous and next tab on the list not last opened as the Ctrl+Tab combo does.

@Matt Faus: that sounds like a good idea, I hope Don will implement this.

Other solution that I thought of is to add a button 'Current directory' (or
icon version), which sets the search path to the current file path.

Since the change my search has become quite click-intensive:
- crtl+shift+f
- type search words
- switch to explorer
- copy path from explorer
- switch to notepad
- paste path

It would be very nice if Matt's solution could be implemented. And if not,
please
add the button 'Current directory'.

The plugins could be the extended features of Notepad++, but they are absolutely
not part of Notepad++ project (ie. they are not developed and maintained by
Notepad++ dev team).

The reasons to remove all the unstable or incompatible plugins by installer
are :
1. to ensure the stability of Notepad++
2. to make user know about what they did : by restoring the removed plugins
manually, users do know better the crash may be due to the plugins they
restored.
So this policy is not gonna be changed.

If you want to updatie your Notepad++ by keeping your unstable plugins, use
the zipped packages. They are done for giving users more control to update their
Notepad++.

OK, thanks for the reply. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it
either.
Having two macros, bound to something like Alt+2 and Alt+Shift+2 respectively,
is almost as good.

Ok everybody... Thanks for all your feedback and advice. I was/am prietty
frustrated
time to time with FTP feature of N++. It itslef N++ IS a great tool, but the
FTP plugin is NOT recomended to anybody. It has problems with refreshing data
from server (I occasionally have to click many times to see whats inside folder)
And, yes, on occasion a file upoad does wipe out the data. I do use it however
because it allows me to edit 'LIVE' environment on testing server, instead of
having upload locally chaged files.

Whit the filezilla - notepad++ combination you can do the same.
when you are connected with filezilla you can right click and select view/edit,
this will open the in filezilla configured editor (for me notepad++).
notepad++ opens the file and then you can edit it like normal.
when you save the file, filezilla ask you if you want to upload the changed
file or not so there is no real big difference between my solution and yours
except that I use a stable (external) FTP software and you use the ftp plugin.

I saw in the Suggested Features that this was requested; a Priority 1 for a
while then closed. Was it implemented? If so how do I use it.

PS: I am new to NotePad++ and really like what I see. It seems it's about time
for me to move up from TextPad. But I find it mysterious, that there is no
Search function in either the .chm Help file or in the Forums; and the Wiki
is not very populated. Am I overlooking something?
