The use of tab vs spaces for indent is controlled by the Settings -> Preferences
-> Edit Component -> Tab setting frame.

Regarding conversion of existing text, you can use replacement of \t by a few
spaces in extended mode.

Ok. However please consider that
1/ workplace machines are not under total user control regarding the core apps
that are installed, like Internet browsers;
2/ As I mentioned, this is the first site in years that ever gave me trouble.
3/ At the time this build was released (Dec 2008), I was able to get the zip
file with exactly the same configuration, without any issue that I remember.

I'm not an expert in these matters, but there must be something gone wrong
server
side, if only because of 3/.

The file is called userDefineLang.xml.

However, it contains all the settings for all custom languages being defined.

To transfer only one language, copy and paste the xml node relative to a given
language to a new file, bracket it with <NotepadPlus>...</NotepadPlus>, and
you are done.

Having several <NotepadPlus> nodes on userDefineLang.xml doesn't seem to be
a problem.

I just opened a big C file with some deeply nested blocks, and "Fold current
level" worked as expeted. Could you describe the issue and context in more
detail?

Have I to do it every time I launch NPP? I believe, it's not a good idea.
Besides, in ANSI build it's not a requirement.
And I've just tried it. It doesn't work.
Instead of ??????????? is ???????????.

The search & replace is good if you just want to strip tabs, but often I find
that I would like to replace tabs in existing text (code written by someone
else with different tab size) with the equivalent number of spaces to line
things
up. THAT, I have not yet found a way to do within the tool.

The TextFX plug-in has an option to convert /leading/ tabs back and forth to
spaces, (haven't gotten it to work, but I'm sure it must be me) but I've seen
nothing to deal with tabs that are not leading white space.

Thanks Chris.

I realized restarting N++ took care of the 2nd one.
The xml file worked great as well.

I'm look for a regular expression in notepad++:

it would have this notation

[ ].[ ].[ ]

how would that be written in notepad's regular expression syntax?

Hey Don,

When using Find In Files with RC2 on my machine (running Vista ultimate), it
does a real bad crash. I even lose my setting for the styles. I keeps saying
that it wants to do some sort of dump and try to save portions of my data.

I went back to 5.3.1 and this doesn't occur.

I think I got it.

You must be using Notepad++ v5.4RC1/2. Because of the changes in the menu
structure,
some old menu entries are still shown, but don't do anything- and some other
disappeared - for users with a nativeLang.xml file in their configuration
folder.

If you delete your nativeLang.xml fle, the dummy entries will disappear, and
you can use Collapse/Uncollapse level submenu.

If you set your localisation to anything, including english, the weird entries
will come back. Hopefully this is fixed in 5.4 final, but requires either
translation
of enough localisation files or uncoupling the menu structure from them.

CChris

Hi,

I am the person that has take over maintenance and enhancement of Compare
plugin.
Ty gave me the torch a few days ago.

I have already a small list of things to add/debug.
I will take a look at this problem (already in my list :) ).

Thank you almostautomated to show me the way :)

I think a new release of Compare should be there in few days (with a new option
menu entry for result color selection).

Regards,
Jean-s?bastien
