This plugin is needed IMO. I will try it as far as I can.

Anyway, Thanks and Best Regards
Jens

BTW, I think I forgot to mention how the version checking is done.

In summary, very poorly.

The plugin "_stricmp" the content of the CurrentVersion= field to the
ProductVersion
embedded in the plug in.
Note that "1, 0, 0, 0" is therefore different from "1.00" or "1,0,0,0".

If a match is not found then the plugin assumes that there is a new version!

Unfortunately everybody uses a different way of versioning files so I though
this was the most general approach.

I can change it to something else that we agree on.

Bottom line the final user will always have some way to see the version and
decide if it is worth updating.

The major limitation that I see long term is the impossibility of installing
the plugin since there is no way to dynamically unload a plugin and then request
a reload.

Regards,

Franco

That's true. Perhaps you could rename the current plug-in DLL, then install
the new plugin and tell the user that they need to restart Np++ for the update
to take effect. On next startup, you could delete the old plug-in DLL (or move
it to a backup dir).

There is no plug-in message to restart Notepad++, is there? (NPPM_RESTART or
something) Though I guess it might be possible to send a WM_CLOSE to the main
Notepad++ handle, and let the user handle "Save file (yes/no/cancel)" dialogs
-- and launch a new instance of Np++ just before quitting :-P.

Alright I would like to see some sort of feature to save "Last saved file
directory"
where when you say a file you can choose or not an option to save that last
directory to start in whens saving other files. Its very annoying creating
a new file, then having to start in the default "C:\Program Files\Notepad++"
directory every time when you need to save a new file. Why not have it so the
last file you saved (it enabled) save that last directory the file was saved
in to be used as a "start up directory" to begin saving files in instead of
using the default Notepad++'s default directory, I know many people like my
self would like to code scripts in a much faster efficient way without having
to search for 2 minutes for a folder when you can do it in 2 seconds.

One of the things I am using frequently and which I miss in nearly all of
editors
like
NP++ is the column mode feature.

I want to to mark certain columns in certain lines and have the possibility
to delete them
and insert something from the starting column. See this snaphsot from
UltraEdit:

http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?image=columnmodeultraeditsnaprf3.png

The only editor I found so far which is capable to do this kind of operations
is
UltraEdit (which costs $$$)

Does NP++ offer such an feature?

If yes: How can I enable this mode?
If not: Can this mode be included in the next release? It shouldn't be tooo
difficult to implement.

Thomas

For MultiClipboard version 2 development, I want the plugin to be notified when
a "paste" command is sent to the edit window. However, for "paste" command that
is sent via the scintilla accelerator key (default Ctrl-V & Shift-Insert), it
is not possible for the plugin to intercept this.

This is because when the scintilla control receives WM_KEYDOWN, it looks up
its internal KeyMap class, and directly call its own windows procedure with
the mapped message (i.e. SCI_PASTE). The problem lies with it calling its own
window procedure directly and not via ::SendMessage(), which means that even
if I sub-class scintilla window, I'll still not be able to get SCI_PASTE.

The only solutions I can think of are:
1) Hardcode MultiClipboard to handle Ctrl-V/Shift-Insert --> Which means if
the user changes the accelerator key, this feature of the plugin won't work.

2) API-Hooking to scintilla's windows procedure --> This will only work with
specific version of scintilla, otherwise, I'll risk application crash.

3) For Notepad++ developers to modify scintilla so that these messages can be
forwarded to the plugins --> Major pain for the developers especially when
upgrading
to a new version of scintilla, being an external library to Notepad++.

4) Expose the scintilla key mappings contained
in NppParameters::_scintillaKeyCommands in some form readable by the plugins
--> Most logical way I can think of.

Can the Notepad++ developers kindly please consider this issue, and if there
are any alternative methods, I'll most gladly take it.

I hope to bring some new and useful features in MultiClipboard version 2 to
all Notepad++ users (not just bug fixes), and the resolving of this problem
will be of much help to this endeavour.

Regards,
LoonyChewy.

I'm editing both html and css files saved using expressionengine (see
expressionengine.com), which saves them with a php extension. I've set the HTML
style configurator user ext to PHP, and it's running fine. But I also want it
to automatically set my CSS files so I can use autocomplete. Files are named
like this:

HTML file: myfile.php
CSS File: myfile.css.php

How can I get notepad++ to recognise this?

Thanks heaps!
