I am not sure if N++ supports this, but is there any way to set it up so it
can detect multiple languages within 1 document, so that the highlighting can
be correct.
For any one wondering, this is because of the mix of languages needed for web
stuff.

Hrm. There is a problem with GUP and the "Valid XML input".
The weird thing is that if I run it from the terminal (wine GUP.exe) it works
fine. If I right-click, open with Wine, GUP complains...

Just another point of data (that probably won't make sense to anyone but zobo):
I've done some testing in Simple Script, and even played around with some
variations
to see if I could narrow down the exact symptoms of the problem. If I inherit
a form class from TNppdockingform, then regardless of whether I even call
RegisterDockingForm, the program hangs as soon as both of the following
requirements
are met:
1) It is floating
2) I press a button, even if that button does nothing.
It doesn't matter in what order you perform these steps (e.g. press a button
while it's docked, and everything's fine. Then undock it, and the immediately
the program hangs)
If, however, I make it a modal window, or I leave it docked, everything works
just fine.
This is the main reason why I haven't put out an update for SimpleScript since
discovering the problem, because I don't know where to proceed from here. I
can either take out the docking code and make it a modal window (which makes
it more difficult to work with) or I can make it a docking form and leave in
the bug with a note in the readme warning users not to undock it. Neither
solution
appeals to me, and the way I proceed will determine several things about the
plugin in the future, such as whether to put some of the options on the menu
or on the form itself.
I know it's a little selfish, but I have to admit that I'm glad it's not a
problem
just in Simple Script. That means that there are other (and probably smarter)
people working on the issue. Hopefully we can figure out a solution.

You can do it in the Simple Script plugin with a one-line tag:
deletefromtag("zip",3)
The 3 is an offset, which tells it not to delete the next 3 characters starting
at the "z" in "zip". (If the offset were 0, the "zip" would be removed as well)
If you don't have the Simple Script plugin, you'll need to download it from
the downloads page.
I'm sure you can do it in a regular expression as well, but I'm not familar
enough with regex to be able to help you there.

Record them as macros.
For example:
Macro->Start Recording
(cursor-forward)
Macro->Stop Recording
Macro->Save current recorded macro
Give it a name, set it to ctrl+f, and save.
Note: You might need to change the shortcuts for other options in the shortcut
mapper that already use these key combinations. You can record macros to key
combinations that are already bound, but they might not play right when you
use them.

I read something about Notepad++ being or always wanting to be on top, topmost
window.
If making the plug-in modal seems to work... Perhaps Notepad++ itself is
performing
some kind of action, when it gets out of focus, because of the undocked plug-in
dialog. I don't know, maybe this N++ action can't be executed when there is
a modal window. I could imagine that when N++ interferes in the showing of the
dialog and then the dialog continues, something is messed up.

I have to do this manually sometimes, too.
First I replace the tab-number of spaces (8 for me) by a tab character.
You can copy the tab character from the document and paste it in the Replace
field.
Then type the number of spaces in the Find field.
Replace all occurrences.
Next, I use a regular expression to create all "partial" tabs of less than 8
spaces.
In the Find field:
__+ (two spaces, then +)
Replace by the same tab character.
Since all complete tabs have been converted, this will replace only all
remaining
partial tabs by a tab character.
I myself use 3 spaces, then +, because there are valid double-space occurrences
in my code. I don't want to replace them (first and then having to convert them
back).
Since there may be single space characters that may have to be converted to
tab characters as well, I have to look through the code anyway. I'll meet those
double spaces that should turn into tabs then, as well.
If you only want to convert one or more spaces to one single tab, use the next
regular expression in the Find field:
_+ (one space, then +)
But this may also convert single space characters that were intended to separate
words inside your to-be-tabbed fields.

Using regular expressions in either the CTRL+F/H or CTRL+R Replace dialog:
Find Field:
\.zip_::INFO::_.+$ (_ represents a space)
Replace Field:
.zip
I included the .zip extension to get a more correct match, although it is not
likely that ::INFO:: will occur in the names. The \ is used to indicate that
the character . has to be matched. The . itself has a special meaning, see next
line.
This regex searches for the ::INFO:: identifier and "anything behind it" (.
= any character, + = one or more) "until the end of the line" ($)
The found string will be replaced by .zip, so it leaves anything you want.

Thanks so much for a great piece of software. I'm also very happy that a message
popped up to tell me a new version was waiting.
One small request: could you put some text on the top of the pop-up window?
The first time I saw it, I thought it might be some sort of mal-ware. It popped
up after I had alt-tabbed away from Notepad++, so I didn't know who belonged
to. (I figured out what it was ... eventually ... and said "Yes"!)
