isn't this what regular expressions are for?

All precedent worked fine. Even when it is an old system I love it and won't
upgrade as long as my computer keeps running, because I don't like the present
Microsoft giant and backdoor-controlled new products and Linux is not totally
developed still for home users.

In Notepad++ v4.7.1 the saving session bug in subview is fixed.
As well, the installer doesn't delete your plugin anymore - even they are not
stable.
One more note : Due to a bug fixed, the structure of session file is changed.
Your old sessions files won't work in this version. So backup your session files
before the installation.

Please post your bug report here if you encounter any serious problem.

See more detail of this release here :

I was very surprised to see my name on that solution, until I realised I'd
written
it a year ago. Glad to hear that it works.

I agree that it would seem to be a simple feature to add. You can only ask,
and hope Don will do it, or do it yourself - it's open source.

Personally, I've never needed that feature. I use Ztree to open files, and
it allows me to tag as many as I like and open them all. Ztree is a file
manager
like the old Xtree. See http://www.ztree.com if you're interested in trying
it. If you never used Xtree, then remember that this is a text based program,
with shortcut keys that were invented before Windows, although it's still very
actively being developed. It does things very differently to Explorer, so take
it slowly when you start, if you do.

Not yet.
I'll point to the new version when it is stable, then your auto-updater will
download the newest version.

You must deselect it!

If you deselect Preference - Preferences - "Remember the last operation
directory"
than Notepad++ will, in oposit, remember the last directory!

Another idea that might help you: define a macro for moving, say, 50 characters
to the right. That would help you to more quickly find the column you want.
E.g. to get to column 512, press the macro key 10 times, then the arrow key
for the other 12. I assume you know that the current column number is displayed
in the status bar?

I am a programmer and I've always used the editor that comes with the IDE (when
available - before IDE's I used the "vi" editor): the IDE that best works (or
is designed for) for the language/platform involved. For me, N++ is just a
supplemental editor for editing or just analyzing primarily non-code files
(viewing
in hex is great feature too). While I think I can appreciate that people would
want to use it as "their" code editor, I'm actually not sure why they would
want to do so. I can imagine someone using (being restricted to) all open
source,
but even in this case, there are still full-blown open source IDE's that
probably
fit the bill. I can appreciate using N++ as a code editor - I think - but I
don't quite get it. I wouldn't mind hearing why - even if it's just to replace
the editor that comes with the IDE being used (perhaps because the IDE's editor
really sucks).

So yes, N++ is a great general purpose plain text and raw data editor and
viewer.
When you learn regular expressions, you will get GREAT value right there. Many
of the plugins are likewise of great importance.

On Vista, when I run notepad++ as restricted admin, always the UAC pop up asking
me to run gup.exe, clicking cancel will show error and notepad++ opens. Clicking
OK doesn't solve the problem either.

Is there workaround for this?
