Do we really need a modal message box after each search/replace?
I understand that it's an old UI approach, but wouldn't it be
better to use like a balloon or even statusbar text to indicate
this message, cuz there is really nothing for the user to interfere
with upon seeing this message?
Anyone share the same opinion?

Hi guys,
This is the third time I've posted this problem, and no one seems to even want
to help me out. I'm going to try one more time, but if I don't get help I'm
going to have to find another program which is going to suck because NP++ is
hands down the best I've come across so far.
I'm trying to access files with notepad++ from a server using SFTP, so naturally
it's a bit slow. The problem I'm having is that Notepad++ keep trying to access
these files while I'm working on them! This results in a 5 second freeze when
switching documents within Notepad++, or focusing on NP after using another
program. Since I'm a web developer, I go in and out of notepad often, creating
a tremendous time for me to have to wait for it to stop hanging.
I've turned off the auto-detect file status feature and have tried everything
else but to no avail. I just want NP to touch a file ONLY if it's opening or
saving it. Is this possible?

-noPlugin
or erase the folder "plugins"
for example, typing:
qwertyuiop (english)
?????????? (russian)

Notepad++ is absolutely the best Windows editor so far and it's getting
better and better with each update.
However, I found it really a pain having to manually editing the
high-light styles and the preference from scratch after each
uninstall and reinstall.
Is there a way to export all these settings?
I've tried to preserve the XMLs in the application folder, but
that didn't help.
BTW: The reason why I always uninstall it before updating is that
I'm a Chinese user and the search functionality for Chinese characters
sometimes stops working if I simply overwrite the existing version
with the most up-to-date one.
Any opinion or tips?

I usually support modality reduction in UI, but I don't see your point.
The find/replace dialog is not modal, you can switch away from it and edit text
without closing it.
If you don't want to see the dialog while you search, you may perform the first
search, close the dialog and use F3/Shift+F3 to repeat the search. The volatile
(Ctrl+F3/Ctrl+Shift+F3) and incremental search (Ctrl+Alt+I) require no dialogs
at all.

Strange. When I use v4.8 or v4.8.1 I notice a very strange slow down of reaction
in my webeditor KompoZer. Every time I right click on a cell it lasts about
5 seconds before the menu appears. When I go back to v4.7.5 it appears directly.
I checked it 5 times with all three NPP versions. v4.7.5. is good, v4.8 & v4.8.1
are bad. So back to v4.7.5 till this problem is fixed.
Btw I use WinXP SP2. And I compared memory use, but couldn't find any
significant
difference.

i think <1074> is <0000 0100 0011 0010> in binary and takes 2 bytes
(likely "short integer"), but if you take junior byte <0011 0010> - it is
decimal

so maybe superior byte somewhere get lost
