I don't think I was clear enough.

I know how to open the Find window (Ctrl+F). I was referring to "dropping" the
Search menu, to access the commands on it.

Since "S" in Search is underlined when you press Alt, Alt+S should drop the
menu. Instead, it produces the message I described.

It happens for me too with my older version if I use the numpad keys. Looks
like a bug to me, but I can't imagine why it would happen. Perhaps it's just
activating some shortcut I don't know about.

I've found two problems with Notepad++'s "file history" list (on File menu):

1. Unlike every other editor I've used, Notepad++ lists files from oldest to
newest, instead of vice versa. This means that the more recently you opened
a file, the farther down the menu you must scroll to select it.

This is counterintuitive and annoying. Users open menus "from the top," so
the most recent files should be there.

2. Redundant entries aren't filtered out. In other words, if you've opened
"MyFile.txt" five times recently, you'll see 5 entries for "MyFile.txt".

How many times do you need to see the same filename? Every redundant entry
bumps another (actually different) file from the list, making the feature that
less useful.

Am I the only one who has noticed how hard it has become to actually discuss
Notepad++ here?

Since this many of you want to discuss China and the Olympics, I respectfully
ask the forum administrator to create a SEPARATE forum area for that and move
all related messages there. Thank you.

Hello Mike.

1 - It's a good idea, I have been pondering about this already. I have to take
a look at the code again but it's going to be a challenge. And another question
pops up directly... How to handle sorting arrays? The only answer I have is
to sort each level by it self. So, sort top level keys, then sort each arrays
keys by them self etc.. Any suggestions?

2 - Can do.

3 - Well this is a tricky one. I can fix a bug/feature so that notepad will
remember where the whole DBGP window was docked, however the internal order
I cannot remember and restore... The solution here would be, to change all these
internal windows (context, watch, stack...) to regular N++ windows (like the
explorer window). But then we'd loose the ability to dock them like now (visual
studio style). Best solution witch I was looking in from time to time would
be to implement a new docking system directly into N++. Until now, I have not
found a solution.

4 - I could probably do this. I have to look.

5 - DBGP has a command for that, "stop". Can do.

6 - Yeah, I saw that from time to time. Its all very experimental :) Scintilla
handles most of this. I'll give it another look if I can add some timeout.
Currently
you can solve this by hovering over another variable, so that the old hint will
get replaced by a new one and that one will hopefully go away.

7 - There is a keyboard shortcut for that (CTRL-F9) - toggle line breakpoint.
The problem is, that this "function" is already taken by Notepad's bookmark
toggle. I've been looking at how to, lets say, CTRL+click for breakpoint, just
not much came out of it. One solution I was considering, was to add another
column. Currently there is the line number column, the bookmark / breakpoint
column and the fold column (I think there's another one, but you get what I'm
saying). Another one could be added, I just think, that would make things really
ugly... Any suggestions, anyone?

Anyway. I don't have much time, I'll try to look at things over the weekend.

Best regards,
-Zobo

Just use the regular keys, then.

If you do a block selection and press the right CTRL key, the selection is
replaced
by ETX characters. You don't see me complaining it's a bug. It can be done by
using the left CTRL key.

"Or press Alt and then press S, separately, instead of Alt+S."

Just read the suggestions above and don't complain it is us who do not
understand
you.

This is no problem to me, if I have opened and closed the same file like twenty
times.
