You are right. Why didn't I think of that?

I think it is clear that there are some obvious anti-Tibet writers here, who
really show they at least do miss the intention of the boycot. I could write
something like Shy-knees to try to bring some disrespect to the Chinese people
or government, but it's not like me to discuss these matters at all here. If
you want to leave a smart impression, don't start calling the other sad or
degrading
names. It only shows your true intentions or your total stupidity.

I've noticed this "feature" some time ago and we (Don and me) tried to find
a solution, but in vain... It seems this "flicker" happens when Notepad++'s
WindowProc is subclassed, but I can't say it for sure because it's too deep
in the source code to be investigated clearly.

Hi!

I wanted suggest to add the option - force to use encoding. For example I use
only UTF-8 without BOM (the same "ANSI as UTF8") in my projects, but every time
I open my previous created files the "UTF-8 without BOM" encoding is not
recognized
(it shows ANSI) and I always need to change this encoding back to "UTF-8 without
BOM" to not change encoding, and that really annoys me, because I don't want
to use another encoding and even if I open file which is encoded in ANSI, I
still want the file to be saved as UTF without BOM.
I hope thats not a problem to make this, because I believe I'm not the one :)

Thanks!
"Or press Alt and then press S, separately, instead of Alt+S."

Just read the suggestions above and don't complain it is us who do not
understand
you.
In version 4.6 (which I still use) ALT+S does the correct thing by bringing
up the Search menu. As he is asking and as hotkey. Yes, pressing Alt and then
S does get the desired result, but it is now broken in 4.8.2 (and I assume 4.8.5
as well).

As Malcolm correctly said:
I have to say that overriding ALT+S by default is dumb.

Firstly putting an '_' under a character in a menu is the offical means of
signifying
a hotkey sequence where ALT+<char> pops up the menu. The Search menu has an
'_' under the 'S' of Search, so that should be the default action (unless the
user purposefully mucks with the accelerator table).
fool4u how about recognizing that this is a either a new feature or a bug. Given
that it breaks GUI rules and changes previous standard functionality, I call
this a bug.

Bob

Apparently, someone else purposefully mucked with the accelerator table.
You would know that from reading previous messages.

So I do not call this a bug.
If you want to have it your way, you CAN.
Why do you want a confession that someone did something wrong in your eyes?

Sorry ... no confession needed. I just think it's rude to tell someone "Just
read the suggestions above and don't complain" when they have a valid point.

Hi,

I am new to this issue. Can anybody explain the plugin name and problem?

(I think this topic is becoming HOT so I am interested to give resolution for
it.)

Regards

Abhay

Well it's rather a bug of release v4.8.5 than Notepad++ binary itself, because
of the shorcut definition of compare plugin.

It'll be fixed in the next release (Ty, could you change this shorcut in your
plugin?).

For this version (v4.8.5), please change compare shortcut manually via the
shorcut
mapper to fix this problem.

Don

Hi everyone.
I've just started using Notepad++ and find it wonderful. I found a problem in
user language syntax hilighting because it does not allow escape characters in
strings (as in " \" "). I modified the lexer to allow them (patch attached),
but I did not provide a patch for the user interface. You have to modify
userDefineLang.xml to include the escape chars at the end of the delimiters (so
that, for example, you have the value <"00"00\00>). I hope the setting is not
lost when modifying the definition using the GUI.
I hope I have been useful.

Thank you,
Ignazio
