Would be nice to have version 5 actually save the file extension of the file
type I'm editing (or at least be an option in the preferences if a user wants
to have this behavior). If I create a new file in NPP and set the language
to SQL and click save, give it a filename, I have to enter an extension or it'll
save the file without the SQL extension. Same for Normal text not saving as
.txt, etc...

Still slow opening fairly large files. Just tried v5 Beta opening a 35MB file
and didn't really notice any improvement over previous version 4.92. I know
some changes were done regarding the smart highlighting, but was anything done
to do any sort of background file loading? I would really hope this eventually
becomes a higher priority on the improvement list. There needs to be some way
of opening a file and quickly displaying it's first 10 or so pages and then
synchronously loading the rest of the document while allowing the user to
actually
work in NPP (pageup/pagedown/search, etc...) while it's background loading.
There could be a progress bar on the statusbar or some indicator that shows
it's still loading (not completed yet).

Not sure if anyone else has encountered errors when searching all open files.
I had a few files open and did a search all open files only to encounter several
errors (sorry don't have them all written down). Ended up having to click away
several message boxes and re-starting NPP.

Otherwise, looking great!!!  Thanks Don!

I suppose you're talking about v5 Beta?
If yes, may I send you an enhanced version to test?

BTW, what's your FunctionList version?

Don

Well, the program already has the option "Save me as...". This option will save
a copy of the current file as something new, close the old file, and keep the
new file in the open tab. Rename would be more or less exactly similar. I gather
the program has released any locks that might have been attached to the original
file that was just closed. Once the normal "save me as" steps have been
completed,
simply delete the original file and the current file will have been renamed.

Hi,
is there any script to change color configuration for all the languaguge at
once. I spend a lot of time in front of this editor and I am really annoyed
by the white background. I tried to change colours, but I realized I have to
make associations for each language.
Is there a script to automatically change the association for all languages.
At least, to change background from white to black and to change the colours
which could be not visible with this background for all the langages at once?
Thank you

AL

I've got this bug, too. The highlighting restores to normal if you just press
Ctrl+S to save to file right after opening it.

  Hi Don, thanx for great editor! :).

  I am talking about v4.9.2, but because this issue was not discussed very much,
i think it will remain the same in v5 (Beta). YES, you might send me an enhanced
version (even if its v5). My FunctioList version is 1.2, but as i said, i can
see the 'lag' even when FunctionList turned off, and even when not writing (i
suppose that FunctionList does nothing when not typing in). I am just moving
cursor around braces.
  Today, i have taken a look at this problem again,...and realized that this
problem is not as markable, when the document is not large enough (speaking
about 2000 lines,...or maybe 1000 is enough - depend on machine). If the
document
doesnt overlap edges of the view area, the lag is unnoticeable. As an
unexperienced
C++/winAPI programmer i guess it must be something with the area the component
or windows tries to redraw.

the 5beta of N++ does not seem to detect my user defined language (saved) which
has multiple extensions (brs wbs) when called like notepad++.exe file.brs ...
It should see the extension and know that it is that language, it did in 4.92,
but this seems to be a small glitch in 5.

A bug of Syntax Folding in newer version

When I was using studying an html page like

        <html>

        <head>
                <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=windows-1252">
                <title>New Page 1</title>
        </head>

        <body>

        </body>

        </html>

I wanted to hide header part and so I clicked the minus sign next to
<head>. But unfortunately everything after <head> is hidden.

I have to go back to old version of 4.7.1. But unfortunately every time
when I start Notepad++, I bothered me to update.

Can this autoupdate prompt be disabled?

I tried the Ctrl+S workaround, but it did not work for me :( ... I have to
pick my language from the drop down menu everytime I start working on a new
file.

Well, that's not 100% true. Of course, renaming the file could be achieved this
way. But when you use a tool that also monitors the original file, like
FileHamster
does, you will lose any revisions made after the Save As feature is used.

FileHamster won't know you renamed the file and will not monitor the new file
with the changed name (unless you have a watch at the directory instead of
single
files).

If you delete the original file, FileHamster will ask you if you want to remove
the revisions (which I guess you don't).

If you have a watch set at the complete directory, new revisions will be stored
for the new file, but you will have two separate revision histories instead
of one.

One might as well argue that Save As isn't necessary, because one can close
the file, rename it, and open the renamed file again in Notepad++.

This looked somehow hopeful for you:

"styleFormatter script"
By: Airdrik (airdrik) - 2008-01-02 18:15
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4698347

However, no-one replied and nothing got posted.

Perhaps this will be on any help to you:

Menu_____ : Settings
Option___ : Styler Configurator...
Language_ : Global Styles
Style____ : Global override
Option___ : Enable global override background color (check this option)

Perhaps this will result in some inconveniences for some styles or languages.

You may search the forum for other solutions or comments.
