But this again assumes that your environment variable JAVA_HOME is set. This may not always be the case. Easy way to test this is : Open command prompt anywhere on your file system and type "java". If it says "Command not found", then you would have to set the variable. When you press F6, by default it is set to the NppExec Plugin of NPP. A pop-up would appear. Paste the first line in the box, click on Save. Type the name as "Java Compile", and click OK. Similarly save the next line as "Java Run". Now everytime you press F6, you can choose to compile or run from the combo box and then click OK. Voila! You would see your results in the console output below. After a bit of fiddling around, I did manage to even get NPP to debug Python scripts for me. Take a look at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2163921&forum_id =331754 Now I'm using NPP full time for Python scripting, running and debugging. Cheers! Sam P.S. Thanks mhuffman, it was your post which lead me to this. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Drag and drop of tabs does the task of re-arrangement effectively in NPP. Have you tried it ? It works better than having to re-arrange from the "Windows" menu. You will have to add an entry of your language to this file. At the end of this file, there is a commented section given as a reference. Make sure, you re fire NPP after saving the file. Few of them are freely available on the forum. I'm particularly drawn to darker themes.[Coming from a "vim" background, it is understandable :-)]. Now my problem with themes having dark background is this: 1> When you do no select anything on NPP, and hover your mouse around, the pointer turns into a "|" kind of icon and is black in color. 2> Because of this, it is not visible at all and is a slight nuisance while editing. 3> I understand changing my entire windows theme would work, but before that I would like to know if there is a way to change this in NPP itself? thanks, Sam ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Hope that helps you, Jay ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. The subject has been discussed many times before, I agree though it would be very convenient to be able to do this. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. So if it is over a white background, it will be black, if it is over a black background it should show up as white. If it is over a dark blue background (like I use in my NP++ styles), it shows up yellow. It may be possible to add a feature to Notepad++ to do this automatically (change the mouse cursor to an inverse-color icon when mouseover the text area), however I assume that windows should automatically do that. Alternatively, the color of the "|" cursor or caret symbol which shows you where you are typing is configurable as a global style (Caret Color), and needs to be explicitly set to something which contrasts your background. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
