I will look at several files with the same name, make changes, and save the file I changed. Or drop a new file in to replace (overwrite) the old file. When I open with Notepad++ later, it shows no changes to the file!! If I open the file with Jarte, it shows the changes, eventho Notepad++ will not. Even if I close all tabs before exiting, it still does it. This is very maddening. Any help? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Also, I think for a code formatter you would have to look for a new plugin. Theres also some standalone formatters in the internet, you can try one of those. Save the file, run the formatter using F5 and reload your file, that ought to do the trick. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. For years, I'm dreaming of auto-indentation in xml, html and css in notepad++. For example, if I type "<Item>", I would not only like that the tag auto-close but also to insert 2 newlines between the opening and closing tag and an indentation on the second line. So as soon as I type ">" I'll get : <Item> | (The cursor here) <Item> The same behavior could be applied to css, c#, c++,... delimiters "{ }". It would save a lot of time... We can find such behaviors in some big IDE such as Visual Studio, but I would really like to have them in a light editor. If you want to do even better, I propose to implements such actions as Rules. A pseudo-example of rule could be : if the user type "{" in a css document then the action described above will be applied. Notepad++ could have some rules by default and the user could also add its own rules. What do you think about this proposition ? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. It's no more possible with this version. Why ? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I was hoping that the saved document would open in a new tab (next to the original document). The reason why I want the new document to open after using "Save a Copy As..." is because I would then have an easy way to split an open file, say story.txt, in two files, say story1.txt and story2.txt. The methods would be as follows: 1. With story.txt open, choose "Save a Copy As..." and save to story2.txt. At this point it is convenient that it already says story.txt in the dialog so you can just type in the missing character "2" 2. Delete all contents in newly opened file. (CTRL+A, Del) 3. Edit > Cut the relevant part from story.txt and paste it into the new file story2.txt 4. Do ordinary "Save" of both files 5. "Rename" story.txt to story1.txt. Again, it is convenient that you can just type in the missing character "1" in the "Rename"-dialog. With the modification to behavior of "Save a Copy As..." I think this would be the optimal procedure for splitting a file in two. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
