Yeah TextFX is quite the nasty plugin when it comes to the menu :)
After some quick debugging, I found it has to be
PluginEntryName="TextFX Characters"
so try that, it should work (but it doesnt look very nice though)

Its to share your document with another person, so when you type, changes will
be transfered to the other person as well.
One person will serve by clicking that button, the other will join by entering
the correct hostname or ip address, and clicking join. When lucky,it will work.
Its kind of difficult UI though.

Notepad++ is my favorite editor for Windows. It's free, light and functional.
It saves me money, time and efforts. Yet, the unicode version of Notepad++ 5.1.4
built on Jan 11 2009 still has some glitches.

If I try to open a file named like 'le fran?ais.txt' by right-clicking the
file and choosing 'Edit with Notepad++' in the context menu from Windows
Explorer,
then Notepad++ wil warn me that 'Create new file: C:\....\le fran?ais.txt
doesn't
exist. Create it? Yes or No'.

But if I try to open the same file by selecting File and Open from the menu
of Notepad++, it works fine to open the file. Yet the filename at the title
of the program is shown as C:\....\le fran?ais.txt. The letter ? is not right
either.

Notepad shipped with Windows doesn't have the two issues. My windows is Windows
XP Home edition (English-US) SP3 with multilanguage support.

1. Did you check the Regular Expression option in the Find/Replace dialog?

For the normal Ctrl+F/H dialog, it's a radio button in the bottom left corner.
The third and last option in the Search mode group.

For the advanced Ctrl+R dialog, check the Regular Expr checkbox. It's the 4th
checkbox on the right side of the dialog, just below the replace textbox.

Can you _find_ any line using one of those dialogs?

2. Did you check the Regular Expression option in the TextFX Viz Settings menu?
If it is activated on startup, the check mark itself won't be visible. You have
to (un)check it and check it once more, to make it appear.

If neither of this helps, then just copy the text of one of the lines you want
to delete and use that as the regular expression (or Clipboard text).

I just performed the remove action on the complete text of your message. I ended
up with one line being removed using the ^[a-zA-Z]+$ regular expression: the
line containing the word "spousesfirstname".

The lines with the numbered spousesfirstnames won't be deleted. They contain
digits, which are not part of the regular expression. If you want to delete
those, you could try (just to check the working, use the find Dialog first)
the following regex:

^[0-9a-zA-Z]+$
or
^[\da-zA-Z]+$
since
\d represents [0-9]

Does this get you any further?

In case there are any space characters just before and/or after the "only" word
on the line, use the following regex:

^ *[a-zA-Z]+ *$

 * _____ means any consecutive string of space characters will match, but none
needed.

You can visibly check the presence of white space characters by checking the
Show all characters option in the View menu.

I occasionally will run into a text file encoded with the ".lit" extension

I BELIEVE: the text of the file has a lot extraneous info which allows the text
to be condensed for the file and easily extracted for reading

I would love to be able to make and read LIT files via NPP

Hi,

I've a embperl project running, and all the perl-files have an .html extension.
Is there a way to tell np++ to use perl-syntax-highlighter for .html file per
default? Could not find it in the options and if dont wanna change the
highlighting
manually every time...

Thanks!

I tried out your advice, and switched my contextMenu.xml file to the following:

<NotepadPlus>
    <ScintillaContextMenu>
        <Item PluginEntryName="TextFX" pluginCommandItemName="E:Rewrap Text to
(Clipboard
or 72) width"/>
        <Item PluginEntryName="WebEdit" pluginCommandItemName="WebEdit -
Italics"/>
    </ScintillaContextMenu>
</NotepadPlus>

Now it looks like I'm halfway there -- the WebEdit item shows up correctly,
but I still can't get the TextFX plugin to show up. I assume I'm still doing
something wrong?
