But I have an issue with it, here it is : When I try to open a file via the plugin FTP_synchronize it usually goes fine. But yesterday, I tried to open a file in a very deep directory structure and got this message : --- ERR Can not open file "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\FTP_synchronize\[my FTP account name]\". --- The local pathname to the file is more than 170 char long, is this the problem ? (at least, that's what I figured out). TIA for your comments & suggestions for my problem. ?ric ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I am using Notepad++ v5.2 on my laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with plenty of RAM and HD space. For the most part it works fine, but I have two concerns: 1) Notepad++ seems unable to save its settings when run in Vista in non-admin mode. Any changes made in the settings dialog persist only until the application is closed - they are promptly forgotten next time Notepad++ is launched. If I explicitly force Notepad++ to run as Administrator, this problem does not occur - settings are saved properly. I suspect this is because Notepad++ writes its settings to files residing in the installation directory (in most cases, this would be "C:\Program Files\Notepad++"). Yet, under Vista with UAC running, non-admin applications cannot write to this directory - they instead write to a "VirtualStore" located at "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Notepad++". My guess (unverified) would be that when running as non-admin, Notepad++ successfully updates the config files in the VirtualStore directory, but does not read those files upon launch, preferring to read the ones in the installation directory instead (which were not updated), thus "forgetting" its changes. When Notepad++ is launched explicitly as Admin, however, it IS able to update the files in the installation directory and therefore the settings can be changed successfully. One possible fix would be to examine both copies of the config file and use only the newer one. Another might be to only use the one that can be updated by non-admins (the VirtualStore copy). How this might work under OSes other than Vista, I don't know. 2) When the box "Remember the current session for next launch" is checked in the Settings/MISC dialog (i.e. that setting is on), Notepad++ takes a VERY long time to launch on my system, sometimes 20 seconds or more. With this box unchecked, launch is almost instantaneous. I hope the Notepad++ development team will investigate and fix these two issues. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. It is not possible to configure the smart selection color in the Styler Configurator. My post was a feature request. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
