Thank you again for this new version, expecially for the feature #1.
I don't know if is bug or not but the "Find in files.." is more slow than the
previous version (let's say about 4-5 times) (ANSI version)

BR
Mauro

It has to do with the fact that older version of N++ were ANSI, and from 5.1
it is by defualt Unicode, which makes plugins not compatible until they are
converted. There is, though, a workaround: download the N++'s .zip file, instead
of the .exe, and install the ANSI version.
You can read more about it here:

I use the format UTF-8 (without BOM) when I save files, because I have ?,?
and ? in my texts. I do not know, this might help you to?

Hi...

i'm new to Notepad++.  I think it's a great program but it's going to take a
little getting used to as I haven't used anything like it with the same
features.

Anyway..I have a question about wildcard find and replace. I'm currently
editing
some fairly large text files which contain thousands of IP addresses. I want
to remove certain entries such as:
(NET-*-*-*-*-*)

* denotes numbers which vary from line to line.

At present, i'm removing the entries line by line but it's proving to be a
little
time consuming so I was wondering if I would be able to use a wildcard to do
all the work for me?

Is this possible?

Thanks for any advice.

Pleas give at least one specific example. Do you really mean to have the fifth
asterisk(*)? If so, is it preceded by a colon (:) or a hyphen (-)?

Don't get me wrong,i like N++ just like the way it is,thing is that it could
use a little eye candy, just to be a little easier on the eyes. And i couldn't
agree more with your statement Greg, minimalist plus power is the way to go!

As far as writing a plugin, well easier said than done.I have absolutely no idea
of C++.Guess i have to get my hands dirty then!

Still if anyone knows any skin/plugin to change the way the tab bar of N++
looks,you
are more than welcome :p

Thanks for the reply.

Here's an example as it appears in the list:
(NET-12-163-132-0-1)

Thanks Greg ...

According to https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6581610
it's okay to use this Plugin for 5.2 - so I downloaded it from:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/npp-plugins/HexEditor_0_9_2_dll.zip
Unzipped and placed it in the plugins folder.

The H button is back again now!

Okay, before you try this make a backup.

N++ has regular expression which are a form of wildcards but wildcards
on steroids.

Place cursor at top of file.
Ctrl/H (N++ Find and Replace)
Enter in Find what box \(NET-[0-9]+-[0-9]+-[0-9]+-[0-9]+-[0-9]+\)
Leave empty the Replace with box
Click on Regular Expression in the Search Mode box.
Find, replace all

The above will delete the string.
If you want to delete the lines that contain your string then the Replace what
string is:

^.*\(NET-[0-9]+-[0-9]+-[0-9]+-[0-9]+-[0-9]+\).*$

I use N++ 5.2 Unicode with FunctionList, and I mostly like it.

There are two unicode builds available for FunctionList v1.2 . Please use the
search facility to retrieve th download URLs. One is fully compatible, while
the other uses a more conventional FunctionList.ini to store its data. They
may choke on some languages, but this stems for deficiencies in the way the
Scintilla component processes regexps, so I guess the ANSI version would hit
the same roadblock.

Both these builds have the following issue: when installing a new version of
N++ (from 5.1.2 thru 5.2), they are seen as ANSI plugins. Just change the
extension
of the dll when prompted for deleting it, rename it back when the wizard is
done, and there you go.

CChris
