Why bother? It's not really going to gain you anything.

Besides Ctrl-D:

1/ There is a prerecorded Trim all spaces macro already. As far as I know, the
only missing feature is being able to add macros to the context menu. Or plugin
commands, for that matter.

2/ to mark text between braces, you can use Ctrl-Shift-B, or any of the related
commands found under TextFX -> Quick.

Here's a topic where this was discussed:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2701071&forum_id=482781

There you'll find 2 links: Harry's and Ruslan's. I've tried both and they both
work for me, but it seems to me that the second one is a more stable version,
and somebody says it also has more features, so I'd recommend Ruslan's build.

Please note that this is only version 1.2; the source code of version 2.0 was
never released, so if you desperately want version 2.0 you must use the Ansi
version of N++, which can be found in the .zip file (and NOT in the .exe
installer!).

Oops, corrections to the above 1/:

You can add the trim spaces macro to the context menu. Simply use 'Macro' as
the MenuEntry item in contextMenu.xml.

Hoxever, that still leaves open the issue of plugin commands. But your requests
are now all answered.

I would like to share my point of view of the concept of "open-source"/"free
software", that I repeat several times in these forums. But hell, no time for
such discussion. Take what you like to think, that's your call.

If I were you, I would search the forums (as your advice) before opening my
mouths.

I've created an xml file with all the keywords for my userdefined language and
hints for functions work just fine. However I would also like to have hints
for instructions which don't have a return value and don't have brackets.

returnValue := function (param1, param2);
instruction param1, param2;

So is it possible to get the hints showing without typing "(" ?

I can increase the size, but it'll be static.
Let me know the maximum size you prefer.

Hello!

I want to run an awk windows program that works outside notepad:

c:\bin\awk "! a[$0]++ {print $2}" file.txt

I tried to run it with the current opened file using:

c:\bin\awk "! a[$0]++ {print $2}" "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)"

I suppose it works, the problem is that I want it to open the result. I tried
to save the result to a file and open the file doing:

c:\bin\awk "! a[$0]++ {print $2}" "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)" >> result.txt
& result.txt

But no luck...

I have used procmon from sysinternals and I see:

976     18:15:35,1191963        awk.exe 2812    CloseFile
D:\Temp\file.txt        SUCCESS
977     18:15:35,1197656        awk.exe 2812    CreateFile
C:\Programs\Notepad++\>>        NAME
INVALID Desired Access: Generic Read, Disposition: Open, Options: Synchronous
IO Non-Alert, Non-Directory File, Attributes: N, ShareMode: Read, Write,
AllocationSize: n/a

That is, looks like is trying to run a ">>" command...

any help?

Thank you very much in advance
