We have a documented method for XP/SP2 but it doesn't work for XP/SP3. We do plan to update the documentation but it won't happen for a while. For one thing it needs a lot more investigation. The cleanest way to do it is to replace all installed copies of Notepad with a NP++ launcher. (Windows installs Notepad in more than one location.) All copies of Notepad, including the ones used for retaining Windows integrity, must be replaced all at the same time. A program called Replacer (Unknown Software at http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/ ) will do it for you. You need the NP++ launcher from the N++ documentation, and whgen you do it, a reboot is required. Some people will think it is not worth it while others will be prepared to do anything to exert control over Windows. ;-) ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. (= Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs ) For example, Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird list their version number in brackets after the software name. This would be a nice feature for Notepad++, too. haweisf ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Basically, to match \r or \n at end of line, you need to match [...@] at the right place, where '@' is any character of your choice. It may help if you choose something that you are sure is not in your text - I like using control characters for this purpose. Beware that end of line is made of 2 characters on DOS/Windows and 1 elsewhere. Since the multi-line tab-bar is somehow confusing for me, it would be very cool to have all the windows available in the "window" menu. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. And I know that opinions differ, so many of u will go on bashing me for such a statement. But let me explain why I think so: 1 - I AM running the latest version 2 - often uploads and refreshes using ftp plugin fail 3 - When I use notepad for about 4-5 hours it crashes 4 - MOST IMPORTANT - when uploading files, it freezes up, crashes and the file ends up a BLANK PAGE! Goodbye 300 lines of code and all the changes since last backup. So for those of you looking to download it... keep in mind that you might end up doing more work with it ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Existing entries should give you a clue, as well as the source file you mention. With some care and observation, you can probably determine the style entries the lexer is aware of from the source, then design the entries in stylers.xml with everything black on white, and you have to figure entries in langs.xml according to your knowledge of the language. When this is done and works, use the Configure highliting dialog to get more decent colours. Note that I din't try to assemble this puzzle myself, but I'm sure it is not too hard. Granted, perhaps the lexer has a bug and that's why it is not included in the config files, I don't know. I don't have Abaqus files in order to assess that. There is a Tool bar frame on the Global tab of the Preferences dialog. You can only choose from the themes listed there. 2/ Change the icon of Notepad++? This is "simple": edit Notepad_plus.rc and recompile. 3/ change the icon associated to text files? In the vintage Explorer, which I opened for the first time in years for this pupose, go to Tools -> Folder options -> File types. Click on .txt, then Advanced, then Change icon. Choose one you like there. Or is it Greg's understanding, or something else yet? You may want to post a more detailed or specific question in the latter case. I created a new file, ANSI encoded, and typed a couple accented letters. In Hex view, I end up with: e0 e7 e8 e9. Format -> Encode to UTF8. Instead of accented letters, I get E0, E7 E8 E9 printed as control characters. Correct, these are not valid UTF8 codes. Format -> Convert to UTF8: the accented letters came back, but now the contents are : ef bb bf c3 a0 c3 a7 c3 a8 c3 a9 Format -> Encode as ANSI: display now is ????????, and the 8 bytes didn't change. To be honest, if I had designed it, I'd have renamed Encode as... to View as... and Convert to... as Encode with... But I didn't design it.
