I once got this problem with an userDefinedLang.xml from someone else. The issue
was that the fold keywords were also listed in other keyword groups, and were
not seen as fold keywords for that reason. So please check your keywod lists
for cross-duplicates.
That didn't make folding functional because of another feature of the lanfuage,
but at least the folding points were visible.

Heh. I've never noticed such behavior until now. With a couple of attempts,
it happens only when...
...I pressed Shift first, then Alt, and released the Alt first. This does change
the keyboard mapping, but leaves the menu bar activated.
So, you'd better acquire the habit to press Alt first, then Shift -- I couldn't
manage to reproduce the bug that way. After all, that's how you normally
activate
mnemonics and other keyboard shortcuts, isn't it?

If you're a keyboard weirdo like myself, Ctrl+Shift sucks for the purpose. Quite
a few applications use Ctrl+Shift+? as shortcut key. Starting from NP++ (and
Visual Studio) -- Ctrl+Shift+F activates find in files, Ctrl+Shift+N activates
Normal style in Word, etc. OTOH, Alt+Shift is really seldom used as a prefix
key (except I suppose Emacs, but I don't use it).

Concerning the NUL characters, they should be entered as \x00. \0 is a construct
that makes sense in regular expressions only. Also, make sure the search mode
is Extended.

All the visible characters are displayed in fixed fonts, but the withespace
is not. Multi-column source code cannot be aligned therefore. What's wrong (this
must have changed with one of the recent updates)?

I have pretty large txt files ~150-200 thousand lines. When I save such a large
text for the first time after copy pasting to an empty sheet, the file appears
(almost) immediately on the hard drive with all the content, but N++ hangs for
another 4-5 minutes not giving any response. It is quite disturbing working
like this.
Any guesses what is happening there? Is it a bug? Is it some check I could turn
off in the preferences?
I use Notepad++ v5.3.1 unicode.

Hi,
This behaviour does not look intentional.
1). Open file 1 -- this file will be changed by another program later in the
test.
2). Create new file 2 (unsaved) (over 1 page long).
3). Navigate to somewhere on the second page then select all text with <ctl>a.
4). Open file 1 in another editor, change & save it.
5). Switch back to npp & accept or reject "This file has been modified by
another
program."
6). Unexpected behaviour (A) the focus does not return to npp. If the modified
file is constantly updated it is hard to get back to npp to even close it.
7). Now we switch back to npp ok because the file 1 is not modified again.
8). Unexpected behaviour (B) the selected text is no longer selected which means
the cursor position in the file is returned to the beginning of the block that
was previously marked, as is the page display.
Suggested change to behaviour:
1. After the "This file has been modified by another program." dialog has been
accepted or rejected the focus should return to npp.
2. Selected text remains selected when returning to npp after the "This file
has been modified by another program." dialog has been accepted or rejected,
and/or the page is displayed at the same point as before, e.g. line 100 is still
on the screen.
Note the behaviour change 2 is in relation to the previously open file, where
that file is NOT the one that has changed.
